Hes playing out of his skin right now but that wont last forever and its not like he is going to play every game. Rafa likes to rotate and that would affect his form. Hell no I dont want him back. If we are to get anyone on a free id get Owen but deffo not Heskey.

no chance to owen either that c.unt left us high and dry and turned his back on us for a second time when he went newcastle, hes always but england ahead of liverpool and im made up he cant get in the squad

maybe now hell realise once u leave lfc u only go one way no matter who u are

i don't blame Owen for leaving we were a load of rubbish the year he left, Rafa came in and it was another 4 year plan rebuild he wanted to win things and he thought he wudnt with Liverpool

Real Madrid came in for him the biggest and best club in the world at the time and made him a offer

He well regrets leaving,

he would of come back b4 he signed for the toon im sure of it he openly said they were his second choice

just dint make sense paying 18 million for someone you sold for 8 the year before,

i still believe he will come home

end of the day i dont care witch way you look at it he is still a class act his goal scoring form for madrid was quality, more goals per min then any other player, for the toon i think he has 23 in 50 sumthin games

would be a quality player to have roatating with torres and keane

he payed the price for leaving missing out on istanbul

i for one would welcome him home with open arms and i think he is still only 28

when does his contract run out

Heskey open to Liverpool return England striker Emile Heskey has responded to reports of a January move to Liverpool by saying it would be "lovely" to re-sign for his old club.

Heskey, whose contract with Wigan expires next summer, has experienced a resurgence in form this season.

The 30-year-old told BBC Radio 5 Live that he is "keeping my options open".

When asked about a return to Liverpool, for whom he made 150 appearances from 2000 to 2004, he said: "It would be lovely. We'll see how it goes."

The former Leicester City striker has become a permanent fixture in Fabio Capello's England team, receiving plaudits from team-mates and fans alike for his performances during England recent victories over Kazakhstan and Belarus.

The forward's form led to him saying this week that he has a desire to play Champions League football.

And his international revival has reportedly sparked interest from Liverpool and a number of other Premier League clubs. It's great that we've got an England centre-forward playing for Wigan. Of course, the 'paper speculation now is that he's leaving us - that's the downside of it

"When you're performing well, speculation is going to come around," added Heskey, who is doubtful for Wigan's Premier League match against Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday having returned from international duty with an injury.

"Everyone knows I'm in my last year of my contract so you've just got to take everything with a pinch of salt and carry on playing.

"I'm going to keep my options open and give 110% for Wigan and see how it goes and maybe sit down with them."

With a scoring rate of roughly one in every five games for Leicester, Liverpool, Birmingham and now Wigan, the forward has been derided in the past for his lack of potency in front of goal.

But since returning from three years in the international wilderness last year Heskey's combative and selfless style have won over many of his critics, even if his goalscoring rate has not improved.

"It's quite staggering what's happened to him over the last few weeks, and I think a lot of it's got to come down to the condition that Emile's got himself in," said Bruce.

"He's possibly in the best condition he's been in all his life; he's obviously enjoying his football and he's reaping the rewards of it.

"It would be wrong for me to take the plaudits. He's got to a stage where you know how to look after yourself - I think (Wigan captain) Mario Melchiot is the same, and certainly I was when I got to 31.

"His physical condition is magnificent. He's been like that for a good while but not been tip-top like he is right now."

Bruce added: "The kid's been a kicking block for years - but to have the mental strength to come through it and play his part is fantastic for him and a club like ours, who have played a big part in his rehabilitation.

No. Does not score goals and not good enough. Cheap or not makes no difference if he isnt good enough.

Scoring goals was never Heskey's forte. The big fella can put himself about, hold the ball up and set up opportunities - he does the donkey work. Rafa wouldn't be signing him to score goals, he is a target man, not a goal scorer.

Kuyt is very similar, doesn't score many but again does the donkey work.

He'll be available for next to nothing, can't see any harm in signing him, gives us another option.

Thats what they said about Voronin. The problem is free or not if Rafa signs him how many fustrating games are you going to see him starting.

Couple of things here. Firstly it obviously won't happen unless we sell Torres as he's hardly at his stage of his career going to settle for being a third choice striker. He's in the national team now, and he needs to play. So it won't happen in my view.

Should it happen? Not in a million years no. Hasn't got the ersehole for it on the big occasion, and he'll prove that in an England shirt before too much longer if we keep picking him.

Strikers that don't/can't/won't score goals are not something you want to be filling up your squad with either. Unless he can play right side of midfield and provide some competition/cover there like our other one of those, it's a no-no.

Lastly, what about attitiude. We're playing them tomorrow and he's talking openly in the press about how "lovely" it would be to join us. "But I want to do my best for wigan blah blah". No thanks. If you you are going to be one of those aforementioned strikers, at least play the game with your heart on your sleeve, give 110% every single minute of every single game etc, at least work hard and score the odd "important" goal. The guy for me was a complete failure the last time, and while I suspect he has improved a little as a footballer, is still some way short of what is required.

Deffinately have him back, he could be the extra edge we might need to win the League this season, for me its another option when things arent going to plan which will happen more than the once it has against Stoke and Villa already this season, it gives Raffa another option to mix things up and if we throw him on and play the long ball in the last few minutes of a game where we have been unlucky or struggled to break a team down and it results in a goal would anyone really complain ?

He was and never will be prolific but neither was Crouch and he scored some important goals as does Kuyt. 3 million or maybe a free wouldnt be the end of the world and I am pretty sure we could match the wage he is getting at Wigan without damaging Raffas January transfer kitty to much
