Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I think rafa will make the league his priority this season, dont think he will put all his concentration into the CL.
And if we add 3 or 4 really good players and twit & tw@t keep their gobs shut and stay out of the media, next season might be really good.

Do you think they will still be here next season Ciggy? I read the article you posted, but that wasn't DIC, so I still have hopes, just not as high as they were. I think we may see some movement before September one way or the other. They have to prove they have the funds available in September for the stadium, and I just can't see them having enough.  God forbid they don't start talking seriously about a ground share. I would rather they extend Anfield than that!

I hope not but you never know and about that article I found out a few things last night that Hicks was willing to sell and it was Gillett who put the blocks on the sale because he wanted more money.

And the Sheihk himself wants to buy us not DIC now, I was reassured they have not gone away, and the silence from everyone  is a very important step as talks are at a critical stage.

But how many times have we heard this before?

I know one thing though im feckin chocker with the lot of it.

er Saint so what would have happened if it at the start of the season Rafa had said we got bugger all chance of winning the league with the squad i have ?

I still contend that our chances of ever seeing the title again are slim simply because of financial clout that other clubs have. It really does make me despair not just as Liverpool fan but as a English football fan as well

More important for me than any change of manager would be a change of our so called fans.

Some of the posters in this thread are a fuc.king embarrasment to this football club.

The fact that some claim to have followed us for years is even more worrying.

It would have been similar to what he has said about next  season with his "options" ? Or every previous season when he has said nothing?

But LAST SEASON HE SAID OUR SQUAD WAS GOOD ENOUGH, so either he was wrong or he fkd up.

Personally I think he was right and our squad was good enough to challenge (maybe not win it), but we fkd up for one reason or another (or more likely a combination of reasons)

I certainly don't believe it was just because of money. More money would have helped obviously, but our squad was good enough to hold its own with any team (apart from maybe the mancs) so we should have been there or there abouts.

I agree with Lando that we were too reliant on Gerrard and Torres, but you could say the same about the mancs and Ronaldo, and it didn't seem to harm their chances did it?

Perhaps its the so called fans who accept that 4 seasons without a challenge to be acceptable are the ones we should be worried about. The so called fans who accept mediocrity in the league and think that a good cup run in ONE competition is good enough.

Perhaps if they had been following the club a little longer then they would have memories of when we wern't happy coming second nevermind 4th. Perhaps then they wouldn't embarrass the club and the players by coming out with the same sad excuses year after year.

Perhaps they have so little faith in the team that its easier to accept that they arn't good enough, rather than that they were never given the chance to succeed by actions and decisions made off the pitch rather than on it?

Embarrassing ? Coming out with the same excuses year after year is embarrassing!

Or maybe you prefer the league to be just another "option"

Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

er laza Rafa has already played down talks of winning the title next season, acknowledging its the hardest title to win and would be his greatest achievement in football yet.

Personally I dont mind Rafa playing down our chances, as I personally feel as though its a bit of reverse psychology more than anything.

Last season though he went out and was posititive about our chances, so maybe this year hes going to try something different in the media. Of course by playing down the chances he is in a better position come May, in that if we fail to challenge again. He can say 'see I told you so, I didnt get the funds during the summer of\r the players I wanted'. If he does make a title challenge or even at this stage the unthinkable and actually win the f.ucking thing, he'll look like a genius.
