From the Euros it appeared that Torres changed his game to accomodate Villa. For Liverpool you would not want to alter Torres style (if it ain't broke, don't fix it) by changing the formation. If Silva came in it would give us another wing option and another playmaker option (to play second striker). IF you imagine a midfield and strike force of -

              Torres
Silva                           Babel
        Barry        Gerrard
           Mascherano

That looks pretty good to me :)

Very attacking line up , i think we will get silva and barry and maybe keane as the 3 big names signings this season

I think the maximum we will get for carson is 6 million , he's a decent keeper but deffo not better than gordon who was bought for 7 . 6 million is a still a decnet profit for a player we bought for less than a million

It'l push gerrard back into the middle where we'll have machy, gerrard, barry, alsonso and leiva.........make sence?

put the bloody funding into silva and stop messing around, jesus christ

i'd rather have

Barry------------Gerrard

          Machy

Than.....

           Keano

Gerrard----------and who? Alonso,Barry,machy,leiva

wht? we need silva nd every1 knows it

Jo what exactly so shocking mate, Basically he still wants to sign players, unkown or not.

the headline says "Rafa PROMISES BIG NAME signing"

and yet later in the interview Rafa says that the signing might not be a name that people know about.

I am having a go at the journo

BBC rumour mill this morning:

Arsenal have made an 11th-hour bid to hijack Liverpool's protracted move for Aston Villa captain Gareth Barry. (Various)

Newly-promoted West Brom and Hull are locked in a battle to sign Liverpool goalkeeper Scott Carson. (Daily Mail)

Liverpool will use funds from the sale of Peter Crouch, Danny Guthrie and the imminent departure of Scott Carson to try and raise funds to buy Spurs striker Robbie Keane. (The Times)

also : Manchester United have bid £20m for Spurs striker Dimitar Berbatov and hope to tie up a deal within a week. (Various)  - which might have an affect on the availability of Keane!!

The rumours of Arsenal coming in for Barry will be rubbish, simply agent chat to try and push the deal to Liverpool through quicker.  We moan about our finances these days, but Arsenal are probably worse off than us at the moment in that respect so I can't see them bidding 18 million for Barry.  I also reckon Barry has his heart set on a move here so even if Arsenal's interest was genuine he'd reject them imo.

If Man U goes for Berbatov, and that forces SPurs to put up a not for sale sign on Keane, I say we let Arsenal take Barry, and try for Santa Cruz, Silva, and Podolski

yeah.. i'm not so worried about arsenal going for barry.

What I am worried about is Utd bidding for Berbatov, which would probably affect our chances of getting Keane. - Rafa may have shot him self in the foot here by making our interest in Keane public as this could have got Fergie thinking 'if Keane goes, they'll keep berba, so I better make a move now....'

Actually.. It could be the other way round.
Maybe Rafa is smarter than we thought....
He could be forcing Fergie to deal his hands first.
He is trying to see if he bite... Fergie to go for Berbatov, we can now pretty safely go for Silva.

There's no way that Arsenal's getting Barry, he's just not the type of player that Wenger would go for.

We seem to be in grasp of Parrys ditherings in the transfer market again.

No worries bringing in ordinary players but when he tries to recruit the star men its the same old story.

Surely this will Parry's last season at the club its embarrasing.

Ricky parry is always too slow and i think its time he left , he has done nothing ever good for this club . As much as i hate hicks i think he was right to tell parry to leave
