The Dutch league ain't that strong either and I remember Kuyt scoring extremely regularly there, unfortunately once he got himself involved in a decent league the goals dried up before too long. Similarly the German League is currently not of a high standard and therefore any achivements by Toni while playing for the strongest team in the league must be placed firmly into context.

It is this, and the fact that during the Euro's he was absolutely sh!t which has led me to believe that he is a limited player. With the greatest respect, even though he hasn't displayed his club form there is absolutely no comparison whatsoever to Torres at these championships and Toni. Though it's not really happening for him, you can still see Torres is a top player. You can tell that from where he goes, when he goes there, how quickly he gets there, his first touch, his awareness, his technique. Toni on the other hand proved that he is quite tall.

Well he was top scorer in the Seria A too Bigmick, scored an odd of 25-29 goals there! moved to Germany and kept on scoring. Thats a sign of a good striker.

Didn't Toni do the samething with Italy, went to right positions got the ball and missed :D

He was unfortunatley stripped of a legitamite goal against Romania and in that game he was with Grosso one of their best players, always a threat. Against France he closed down defenders so they won't push up or letting them make mistakes, so they did with the penalty, and it was Toni who got it for them because of his nice and tidy work from him.

Not saying Toni is a better player than Torres, not alot of strikers are better than Torres at the moment. Torres is pure class, but he hasn't shown it in Spain as much as he has shown it in Liverpool.

Not a type of striker we are looking for, same class as voronin.

:D thats a good one tell me another , polodski is excellent , i don't know why you don't rate him , got a great left foot , plays with so much drive and determination , can't believe that he spent most of the season on the bench for bayern

I don't like him, he spent on the bench with Bayern because he was sh*te!  :D

He wastes the ball, isn't intelligence enough and his first touch isn't up to it either.

I get more and more mystified by your posts every day mate.

Comparing Podolski to Voronin  ???

One a bundle of energy works all day for the team with an eye for goal and a hell of a shot. The other an overweight run of the mill striker with an awful scoring record everywhere he has played.

Podolski is miles the better player and would definately be a decent addition to our forward line.

Regarding Toni, bigmick has already summed it up for me. He's turd, he may attack the ball better than Crouch, well he definately does, but thats the only area that he is better than our player.
Crouch hassles centre halves as well, has a better touch and better composure.
Not sure how Italy didnt play to his strengths, i know they didnt play with out and out wingers, but am not sure they have any good enough and the full backs seem to get forward and get balls in from wide alot. Toni's heading in this tournament -bar the offside goal, that should of stood was poor. As was his finishing in general.
Against France he was that bad it got embarrasing, Crouch would of scored about 4 in that game, the chances really were that easy.
If we swapped Crouch and Toni around i am 100% certain that Crouch would be a major success at Bayern and that Toni would be terrible for us.

Im sorry Ace, podolski isn't good enough to play for a top club like Liverpool, same as he wasn't good enough to play for Bayern who are willing to sell him because he was god damn awful with Bayern. He has played 49 times with the Bayern club and scored 9 goals only! Thats an awful return isn't it for a striker?

Grosso were their only good fullback in the tournament Ace, yes they don't have any out an out wingers to link up with Toni.

You have seen Podolski play for Bayern so will take your word for it about his performances, but based on what i have seen of him i think he definately looks good enough.
Admittedly i have only seen him play about 7 or 8 times but in every game he looks dangerous and a threat to score.

The same with baros, he looked dangerous and got top scorer in the euro 2004, looked fantastic. Decent enough for Liverpool though, but then his goals dried up.

Maybe podolski does well in international level as Adriano does with Brazil, but then f*cks up with the club.

Whilst prepared to lose Crouch, Pennant and with Carra aging.

Looks like a one for one at the end of the day.

Ramos - now theres a player! 10/10

Sorry, mate, but this made me chuckle.  Arshavin is not rubbish just because he had one quiet game in the same way that Ramos is not a world beater after having his only really good game of the tournament.  If I had choose between the two I would take the Russian all day long--and, yes, that's even considering Ramos' form for Real Madrid and not his form to date for Spain. :nod

I've never really rated that Ramos, granted last time I saw him was a couple of seasons ago :D  but I thought he was a liability at the time he defending was pi$$ poor in my view, and I've never paid any attention to him since.

Why are we always linked with over hyped english :censored:? i mean come on instead of spending money on Barry, Millner and Downing i would
rather keep what we have because we will still end up in the same position as last season but with less money.
