Liverpool Football Club - The Rumour Mill

Trouble is given our finance situation clubs will test the waters with bids and nothing wrong with that.

If an offer was accepted, and like it or not our owners can make that call, I think it would be the end of Rafa for sure because no doubt he would walk away at that point.

Lets face it Chelsea have tried it on before with Gerrard and almost got their man so there is no reason why they wouldnt attempt to take Torres as they go all out to wrestle the title back from United.

Hopefully its paper talk but its not beyond possibilty unfortunately and with our owners anything can happen.

I'm a bit surprised to see, that no one has mentioned what Torres himself wants. He seems to have really taken to the supporters and the city as such, so I VERY MUCH doubt that he would want to join Chelsea anyway. He's also gone on record numerous times saying that he would love to be an Anfield legend like Dalglish and the likes, again something which indicates, that he sees his future as being RED (which he has also directly stated on more than one occasion + he signed a long contract, when he came here). I really really believe, that this is only the media doing their usual :censored:-stirring

Torres is a RED, and will be so for many years :;):

i already did earlier on in the takeover thread where the same issue was being discussed.

I think that it wouldnt matter if we accepted the offer or not, i dont think he'd go. he'd just reject chelsea. simple as.

Fair enough, I haven't read that thread for quite a while, as it has become so immensely long :D . But at least we seem to agree on the matter :;):

Liverpool co-owner Tom Hicks is adamant striker Fernando Torres will not be leaving Anfield.

Newspaper reports over the weekend suggested Chelsea would bid up to £50million for the 24-goal Premier League striker.

The Spaniard made a seamless transition to the Premier League following his transfer from Atletico Madrid, scoring 33 goals in all competitions his first season in England.

His efforts earned him the runner-up spot in the Footballer of the Year award behind Cristiano Ronaldo and he has become one of the most coveted forwards in the game.

However, Hicks insists the Reds would never contemplate selling Torres and told the Daily Telegraph: ``We would never consider it.'

He clearly values his life Hicksy cos we would have lynched the c*nt if they sold Torres.

Udinese’s sporting director Pietro Leonardi confirmed that left-back Andreas Dossena is still in talks with a summer switch to Anfield.

“We have not reached an agreement yet with the English club, we are negotiating, but we will continue talking again next week.” he told Italian reporters before adding “Nothing is done at the moment.”
