I'd definately go along with that...

It would be an absolute bargin if we could get him at that price.

Reds close on Dossena deal

Udinese defender Andrea Dossena is close to agreeing a move to Liverpool, according to reports in Italy.

Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez is on the lookout for a left-back to bolster his squad as it is expected John Arne Riise is set to leave Anfield this summer.

Tottenham are also chasing £9million-rated Dossena's signature and it is understood that the North London club had a bid rejected in the January transfer window.

However, it is rumoured that Udinese sporting director Pietro Leonardi recently flew to England to discuss a possible transfer with Liverpool.

The Reds, though, would face a battle to land 26-year-old Dossena as Serie A giants Juventus are also seeking close-season reinforcements.

Dossena, who has made one appearance for Italy, has played 63 games for Udinese since joining from Treviso in 2006 and he has scored two goals in that time.

In the other hand, I'm very skeptical those 14M figures are true for a simple reason: Athletic Bilbao hasn't popped up knocking at the door.

That club is limited to basque players, and let's say that they wouldn't hesitate one iota to reach a 14M figure even if they have to sell many players of their overcrowded midfield. For them, having the best basque players is a must, and they dream about Alonso, it's like obsession for them, trust me.

Not seeing them flying around in circles, makes me think those figures are not true.

Personally I think this will happen. I haven't see the lad play though so I can't comment. Judging by the other clubs who are after him though he must be half decent.

Incidentally, wouldn't he be the first Italian ever to play for lfc?

Don't think so, didn't we have an Italian keeper on loan a few seasons ago.  He did play a few first team games but was garbage.

yep... Daniele Padelli ... (from research, not memory)

Padelli became the first Italian to ever play for the club in 2007 against Charlton Athletic in the last league game of the 2006-07 season. However, his poor performance saw him concede two goals in a disappointing draw for the Reds. His loan period concluded in June 2007 and he returned to Sampdoria.

Arsenal have clinched a £10m deal for Olympique Marseille star Samir Nasri, who could sign a four-year contract later today. (L'Equipe, 1210 BST)

Bit lightweight but a definate talent, £10million seems very cheap - I think we were rumoured to be interested last season, but for a hell of a lot more!!!

Good Price.  He had a £13.5 mil release clause.

I would of loved Nasri at LFC.

I have watched Dossena play before.  I like him.  His played well when I have seen him

I dont think Nasri's price has come down.  The figures being reported last year were false.

Eto'o has been injured a lot over the last 12 - 18 months.  Dinho has lost form. Villa isnt as prolific as previous years.

yeah I know most of the reasons... its just the way it seems at the moment though with all the 'big names' dropping in prices.

Although Villa has been more prolific this season then last season:
this season he scored 18 in 26 league games
last season he hit 16 in 35 league games

not that it matters anyway

To be honest I didnt think got that many. Good point!!

I guess Valencia are not really in a position to start demanding those huge fees at the moment.
