What an insane suggestion. Its absoloutely stupid to suggest a player at a side outside the top three is good enough to play for Liverpool...

:no

It has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that he plays for Reading.

It has everything to do with the fact, however, that he is Dave Kitson. Simple as that.

The only reservation I'd have over signing someone from another English club is that we'll end up with another Crouch, Bellamy, Pennant, Benayoun or Kewell and pay over the odds. Fair enough some of those might have a case for being ok or better, but the fact remains none are in our best five players and probably none in the best ten - of those still here of course! If they were all sold there'd not really be tears shed.

Maybe as a third or fourth striker at a reasonable price, as an "ideal partner" for Torres would be a big step for him to make/take

This is slightly off the topic....but what do you guys think of jimmy bullard ?

If we are to sell alonso.....i think Bullard might do a decent..(no wait....a good job) alongside mascherano in the 4-3-2-1  formation...

At the moment..whenever mascherano and alonso play, they almost always play next to each other. In an ideal world...mascherano should do the anchor work and alonso should press ahead everytime possible but what i see is that alonso and mascherano both stay behind and get in each other way sometimes...

I am not saying bullard is better than alonso....just that...i like the way he controls the midfield for fulham (he can virtually play anywhere in midfield)....His deadballs are also deadly...

I have always liked Bullard.

If we sell Alonso for a descent profit and then spend some cash on Bullard and strenghten some other areas I'd be happy. Best would be if Alonso wanted to stay though.

Bullard is more than a decent player.... He is the type of player to complement mascherano as he presses forward, goes to the wings to put in crosses, comes back to defend (a box-to-box) player.

At the moment...alonso and mascherano just do the same job when they are playing.... (ie....play infront of the defence) and mascherano is much better in this than alonso will ever be.

I have always said that i don't subscribe to the fact that alonso is the quarterback of our team (where he sits deep and hits long passes).....

In my mind, he should play as an attacking midfielder. Yeah, he doesn't have pace, but he has an awesome 1st touch and a good footballing brain (which will compensate for his lace of pace)... But he seems intent to sit back...and this is why i think it wouldn't be such a big miss to sell him.

Jimmy Bullard is too much of a risk if you ask me... he had a knee ligament injury which kept him out for a long time and only just came back if i'm not wrong...and this kind of injury you don't really recover 100% ... if it's 2-3 million I wouldn't mind but otherwise too much of a risk

Anyone see Arshavin tonight for Zenit St Petersburgh ?

He'd be ideal in our 4-3-3 at the moment.

They just wupped Bayer Leveruken 4-1 away.

Arshavin scored the first and helped in the others.
He's skillfull and very pacey and a great playmaker.
He played inside both left and right channels brilliantly.

Matt McQueen - Liverpool 1892-1928.
Only professional to - play in goal (41 appearances), Defence, Midfield, Striker, and later be Director and then to be Manager (winning a Championship) - at one club

He is top quality, and has been linked with Everton and Newcastle in the past.
He gave Micah Richards a very hard time when England played Russia.

Never seen the game tonight but he looks a superb player, reminds me a bit of Hleb.

WTF.... We should be looking at better players than Bullard - Yes he is a very good PL player, but he will not improve the squad; meaning that he is no better than what we have already.
If we are to actually win the PL again we have to get over this mediocrity chasing mentality.

10 - 12 Million is also not enough to buy a player good enough to play alongside Fernando in terms of getting the best out of him.

I hope really hope that we don't go for Bullard, he's too old anyways.  But Arshavin is a class player and I'm surprised that he hasn't moved to a bigger club yet.  He's a very tricky little player and he would definitely improve our team.

Bullard is WAY off topic, certainly not who I'd be looking to partner Torres. And wouldn't he be playing the Gerrard role in support? If that's what people have in mind then what would they do with Gerrard? Play him less? Play him wide right? Just because someone is a good player doesn't mean we should sign him, a good player in a position we need yes.

mancs don't need him, wouldn't he be another Sidwell to Chelsea? Can't see Arsenal paying too much for an English player, not sure he'd fit in their midfield unless to replace Gilberto in their squad and to rest Fabregas
