to true dont matter how you win just that you get 3 points but it is nice to play well some times

Look at arsholes they win so many close games and the mancs they also win alot of 1-0 / 2-1 / 3-2s

Dear me, just the 12 pages when we win?

An important win, but by no means a convincing win (Solely Rafa's fault obviously). We have a landmark moment in Torres reaching 20. Something that's been absent from our strikers since Rafa's tenure began, and since Owen decided to 'better his career'.

A great result from a fairly middling performance. The pace was far too pedestrian at times but we've got a special player in Torres who can pull us through in games like today.

Like many, I thought Lucas was poor today but unlike a few, I don't think this means he's rubbish. Babel continues to underwhelm me, however. He just doesn't seem to have the bottle to compete most games. He kind of glides through games rather than imposing himself.

I'm not a huge fan of Kuyt pushed out to the right in the 4-2-3-1 but I didn't think he was terrible. News flash, though, Dirk--when you get assaulted in the box, go down lad. A penalty's a better bet than you regaining your feet and scoring.

We were a bit at sea at the back as well but that's because Arbeloa's not a proper CB. He wasn't awful, just uncertain. I thought Finnan had a poor game today, though.

This all sounds like so much bitching after a win (sorry Joe

) so I'll end by applauding Torres once more. Sure, Boro handed him two of his goal-scoring opportunities on a silver platter but his composure with the finishing was superb. That's especially true for the first, where he had so much time to think. You see many strikers bottle it when they have to decide what to do one-on-one with the keeper. Torres opted to round him but I was amazed with how he managed to ride the challenge from behind, keep his balance and slot home with another defender closing in as well. The second, of course, was another sublime strike from outside the box--shades of the last time he faced Boro! :nod

Finally, we have a 20+ goals/season striker back in the red shirt! :buttrock

And, by finishing 4th we get to play Champions League Football again next season, if that isn't important enough we can always try and qualify for the U.E.FA Cup instead ( thats embarrassing )

Our chances of winning the League this season may well have vanished but that does not mean we should not celebrate when we win and the fact that we gain more confidence for the games coming up by winning the game before each one.

We won 3-2 with a fullback playing at center half. But we didnt keep a clean sheet did we?

Disgraceful.

Cant believe I was shallow enough to reply to that. In any event I thought the team did really well, started off ok, went behind which knocked the team off stride for a while but found our rhythm again and started to play a bit. Good result in all so lets hope we see more of the same, 3 points that is !

Thats a good point, earlier on in the season he looked hesitant when faced with a one on one and missed a few chances , I think someone mentioned that about him before we signed him. But he seems to get better with every game. All we need now is another decent finisher up there with him. I like Crouch but I don't think Rafa sees him as a permanent Torres partner

From the interviews he has given so far it would appear that he is benefiting from not carrying the club like he did at atletico.

The way i see it is that we gained 2 points on arsenal

And it was a sluggish preformance in the league again but we won and that made my day .

Good result, especially considering the pressure the lads were under after winning in Europe. They knew they had to win today otherwise the knives would have been out for them again. So good result.

Not a great performance, IMO. Passing was non existant for large periods of the match. Set peices were again woeful. Defending was comical at times BUT I'd take three points over a great footballing display any day. It's three points at the end of the day, that's all that matters. Well done lads.
