:buttrock  Cheers Dundalk, how did you find them so (apparently) quickly ? I was reduced to trawling page after page of old threads, and having a short attention span was quickly sidetracked.  :D

There is a Search Button Image at the top of the page.

Hit that and search for books in General Chat and hey presto we have a result.

:D  Cheers again Dundalk, I've tried that option on a number of occasions . Last time I typed in "Books" I got 4 pages of related threads , I guess you've got more patience than me , and I thank you for that  :) .

Well worth it Babu, I've lent my copy to a relative but I told him not to pass it on because I want to read it again.

Apparently you started a thread on books a while back... sorry... lets see if we can keep it going. Its nice to see what people are reading and their recommendations.

Just finished Fiennes' book - no doubt he's done exceptional things but found parts to be a bit borish when describing walking through the poles.

Bill Bryson's is an excellent read, like most of his.

One biography/autobiography which is exceptional is Wild Swans by Jung Chang. It's about her family growing up in China which spanned the insane rule of Mao.
The story of her father is gut-wrenching, a stuanch communist who ended up being tortured during the witch hunt.

on a serious note (i have a Masters degree in English) Heart of Darkness by Conrad is an excellent read. BUT Ian McEwen is an excellent writer and Atonement is my fav book of all time.

Just went to Blockbusters before to get the DVD, but none left.

Does the film do it justice?
