Anybody?

Wouldn't mind a bit of 'Santa Cruz is coming to town' blasted out around Anfield..

Ever heard of one season wonders? mate we can't judge a player just on 1 season and i see alot of ppl calling here for diego , the question we don't know if he can adapt , yes we never knew that with torres and took the risk and he has done brilliant so far . Given our current situation , i don't think we can afford any risks that might lead to mistakes , so i'd go for a proven player instead of one with a glamorous record abroad whom we may never know if he can adapt

In my view, Robbie Keane is not top quality. I think he's better than what we have other than Torres, but I just think we could do better in terms of quality, touch on the ball, control and pace etc. He's just below the level we require - given the strength of the Manc's, Chelsea and Arsenal.

Agree with you, but that's in an ideal world. I don't personally believe the club will bring in another £20mill+ player next season (regardless of the ownership) so i expect then manager will have to make do with a smaller budget. Now Tevez and Torres would have been magnificent, two TOP TOP quality frontmen playing together and their styles would have complimented eachother perfectly but we're not gonna be able to bring in someone like that. I don't know that Torres partner has to be his EQUAL? But there's no doubt he needs someone who can profit from all the extra attention he gets from the opposition back four, someone to score a few goals and someone who offers enough quality to lead the line when Torres is rested/rotated. keane fits that profile for me. Intelligent player who could make it work with Torres or Crouch. It does strike me that if a player (particularly a British one) spends a few years doing well for the likes of Villa, Spurs, Blackburn etc they get a little bit type-cast in the eyes of LFC fans ie. "He's not Liverpool quality, he might be able to do it for Spurs but this is Liverpool", "This is a different level altogether, he'd have been playing for one of the big four years ago if he was up to it" etc

I know what you mean, but I really think the bar has been raised and we need something special, someone with a bit more quality on the ball.

Another player to ponder might be Elano.

Yes , man city fans are claiming that's he's a bargain posb of the season , but u know what , i think he's massively overrated , he never performs against the top clubs , let alone he's inconsistent and not to mention lazy , if u mention him , i think real reason why city are so high is because of 1 man Martin petrov , not elano

Man utd vs Man city
0 -1 [geovanni] , city we outplayed the whole match

Chelsea vs man city
6-0
city thumped , where was elano??

Liverpool vs Man city
0 -0
Was elano even on the pitch? never noticed him , infact i only noticed richard dunne and micah richards defending our onslaught on them , i said it before and i will say it again , sven can't buy players for nuts , his best buy will deffo be petrov but if u ask me the rest are just average players

Normally posting on a forum is kind of like having a conversation with a group of people. You stick your point of view up, occasionally you forget something and have to post immediately after, then you wait for a response before posting up a counter argument or further comment based on what somebody has written. Am I the only poster who finds Toffeehater's tendency to put five posts consecutively after each other, rat-a-tat-tat as someone once said (indeed with another "tat" stuck on the end just to make sure) a little odd? I know personally speaking I never read them anyway.

Well Torres hasnt exactly dazzeled us with his performance against the top clubs this season either. So do you think he is massively overrated too?

Wonder what games have u been watching? Chelsea mate? , where he scored his first goal of the season? Against arsenal , he was just rushed back and against man utd he missed a couple of shots , elano has never contributed in big games

To be honest, i dont think there is anyone out there for that kind of money who would suit the premiership and would be better than Crouch.

If we are gonna go and buy a new forward, make it a world class one that Rafa feels he cant rotate because he is simply too good and is that important to the team, just like Torres.

Crouch is our best bet IMO. Until we get enough money available to get Torres a world class partner, we may as well utilise the best we currently have, which is Crouch. Kuyt and Voronin are frustrating to watch and simply are'nt up to the job. I'd like to see either Crouch given a better chance and more playing time or Gerrard playing just in behind Torres. I know we've tried Gerrard in this role behind the striker before and it didnt work as well as we had hoped, but nw with a world class player like Torres up top it seems the right time to have another go. Torres has said in the interview recently posted how easy he finds it playing with Gerrard, and how Gerrard can pick out his runs so well. A combinaton of Torres and Gerrard could be the winning formula for us IMO, two world class players who, given the chance over a few games, could really kick start our season.

If we sign Masch, him and Alonso will be a solid pairing in the centre giving Stevie more freedom behind Torres. If we don't manage to keep hold of Masch though, we lose some of that freedom for Gerard who would then be best played in the centre alongside Alonso. Rafa needs to get this sorted, either realise Crouch is way more effective than Kuyt or use a different system with Gerard given a more free role behind Torres.

The Beast, Julio Baptista. Didnt suit Arsenals style of play so wasn't particualrly good for them, but with Rafa more direct high tempo style he'd be awesome. Him and Torres together would be a nightmare to play against, both can drop off as well as hold the line, both are strong and quick and have an eye for goal - he'd definitely be available for about £10m tops

I'd love a Peter Beardsley, Jari Litmanen, type of player with Torres.Somebody with some guile to slip in him but will still pop up with 15 goals a year. I think that'd be magic.

Unfortunately, I don't know any - but they must be out there?
