Should be something along the lines of:

Given
Beye, Cacapa, Rozenhal, N'Zogbia
Barton, Butt, Geremi
Martins, Viduka, Milner

The midfield is the biggest question mark. Smith has been starting a lot recently, so he may be in there. Emre has been back for a couple of games now, too.

Obviously N'Zogbia isn't a left-back, but he's been playing there lately just to fit him into the team. If Zog was to play further up then Enrique would play left back.

Cacapa's fitness hasn't been confirmed yet, if he doesn't play our only fit cover would be a young'un: Edgar. So Beye might move to centreback with Geremi dropping in at right-back.

The forward line is pretty nailed on.

If Allardyce went 4-4-2 it would still be the same 11 more or less, with Milner dropping back into midfield.

capaca injured ain't he??

----Reina--------
---Arbeloa----Carra---Agger/hypia----Riise
---Babel-----Masch----Gerrard----kewell
-------------Torres-----Crouch

Babel and kewell can push up to support the two front man and can provide the balls for crouch to head , adn knowing rafa's a :censored: ? he probaly do stupid things

Yeah, looks like Cacapa is out, so the plan B I was predicting looks about right.

According to the Newcastle Chronicle the team will be:

harper

geremi   beye   roz   enrique

milner    butt  emre    n'zogbia

viduka martins

Personally I can still see Given starting in goal.

If Sam goes 4-3-3 Milner will be pushed up to be on the left of the front 3, with Martins on the right, Viduka central.

Possibly N'Zogbia coming off for Barton to make a midfield 3 of Barton, Butt, Emre.

But who cares? We'll find out tomorrow anyway.

if geremi starts at right back then kewell or babel must play left side. they'd both murder him.

Well, he's pushing on but right-back is his favoured position.

I haven't seen much of Babel but Kewell is W*nk. Back pocket all day.

Just like when Geremi had Kewell in his back pocket for the FA Cup Semi a few years back? ???

This thread seems kinda forgotten about with all the other drama thats been going on, Newcastle arn't a good side, Portsmouth showed how inept they are in defence (still)  and hopefully the players will go out and put on a performance tomorrow that says "Look Rafa, you don't need to sign new players. We're Aces"

Well amidst all the turmoil, posturing and nonsense, I do hope that everybody concerned remembers that this is a very important game for us on Saturday. Arsenal play Wigan at Home, while Man Utd and Chelsea face the hardly daunting tasks of trips to Bolton and Derby respectively. I would have thought it was nigh on a certainty that all three of those will win, so we really can't be affording any slip-ups.

No doubt at some point between now and the kick-off the old chestnut about International breaks and "tiredness" etc will rear its ugly head, and the temptation will be there to have a wee feck around with the team. I really hope this is resisted. Torres if fit would be a logiccal reintroduction, but other than that I see no real reason (barring injuries I don't know about) to overly change the line up which has scored ten without reply in the last couple of games.

Hopefully we're over all that resting Gerrard/Torres stuff for away games now, and we can put all this speculation about who said what to whom behind us and get a result, and by a result it looks like a win is pretty paramount to be honest.

The best chance we have of ensuring the manager gets his financial backing is by staying in the race for the League title as long as possible. To do so we need to win games such as this one, and probably beat Man Utd at Home as well. It's all doable provided the players and management keep their nerve.

With Yossi and Penant out injured is he going to put Stevie Right midfield with Mascherano and Momo in the centre ?

I mentioned in the Euro 08 thread that hopefully Stevie is ready mentally for this after the dissapointment of Wednesday, it could go either of two ways 1) His head isn't right and he plays awful or 2) He puts in another star performance and runs the game from start to finish.

Its been mentioned already that Newcastle are not a good team but neither were Birmingham or Besiktas and apart from their derby with Sunderland this is their biggest fixture so far and a chance to get their season started, that said I am still going for a 2-0 win for us with Crouch to get both ( if he plays)
