Win our last 3 games in europe - Doesn't make a blind bit of differnce

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I've heard on several occasions Liverpool will be alright should they win their remaining 3 group games in Europe this season, but the truth is we can win our remaining 3 games and still go out.

The group at the moment---
1) Marsielle 9 points
2) Porto 5 points
3) Beskitas 4 points
4) Liverpool 1 point

We win our remaining games we get up to 10 points. Marseille beat Beskitas then they'll go onto 12 points. But should Porto beat Marsielle and Beskitas they'll end up with 11 points even if we do beat them. So we're relying on other results going our way, as well as us winning our own 3 games. Isn't looking good is it?
1) You'll Never Walk Alone
2) pass and move is the Liverpool groove
3) FIRST WILL ALWAYS BE FIRST AND SECOND WILL ALWAYS BE NOTHING.
4) If Torres has scored 60 league goals for Liverpool by the start of the 2011/12 season, I'll say he's better than Owen.

Not to rain on your clearly well-planned parade, Marseille only have 7 points and winning the last 3 games WILL take us through

That is incorrect.

Marseille have 7 points and Besiktas only have 3.

No, you're wrong mate - Marsailles have 7 points, not nine, so if Porto get to 11 (they ARE on five) Marsailles will only be able to get to 10, assuming they lose to us.  Any win in the Velodrome should come down to results between the sides (1-2 would send us through), or if we win 1-0 it'll be goal difference.  On the other hand, if Marsailles get past the 10 point mark, Porto can't (again assuming we beat Porto).  So it IS in our hands, and if we win our next three games WE ARE THROUGH!!!!  YNWA.

EDIT:  yeah what he said ^^

Marseille   7
Porto       5
Besiktas  3
Liverpool  1

Remaining fixtures:

Liverpool 06/11 Besiktas
Porto 06/11 Marseille

Besiktas; 28/11 Marseille
Liverpool 28/11 Porto

Marseille 11/12 Liverpool
Porto 11/12 Besiktas

IT is in the hands of us as even if Porto do beat Marsielle tomorrow, then Marseille win in Beskitas then IF we beat Marsielle by more then one goal to nil then we would qualify above them (assuming we win our two home games).

Lots of ifs and buts but 3 wins and we will be through no matter what happens elsewhere.

For the reasons above, this one is dead in the water.
