New assistant manager - What i've heard...

Liverpool Football Club - The Rumour Mill

A lot of rumours going around that a certain Mr Paul Jewell will be given the job of new assistant manager.

don't know what anyone else thinks about thsi but if it does come to fruition then it is an absolutely great move in my opinion having someone who cares so much about our club being given the opportunuity to use his experience witha  bigger club.

Agreed. That would be a great move for LFC and it may just suit Mr Jewell as it's a relatively easy way back into football without the strain of being a frontline manager. He will probably look at it as a chance to learn from Rafa and also position himself for when Rafa eventually decides his time at LFC is done (the thought of Rafa leaving makes me feel sick). Grooming another in the way of Rafa but only with a scouse accent!!

I have no idea whatsoever if he would make a good assistant manager to Rafa.

But he seems a nice guy.

Gary McAllister would be a good # 2 for Rafa as well. His name has been mentioned as a possible to join the Checlski coaching staff!!! Snap him up I say.

Jewell would be a great addition, but where's the rumour come from? I'd prefer McAllister myself but can't see us offering it to him

From LFC.tv

LIVERPOOL FC PRESS STATEMENT
Paul Eaton 13 October 2007
Pako Ayestaran is to step down from his position as assistant manager at Liverpool FC, although he will be contracted to the club through to June 30, 2008.
Chief executive Rick Parry commented: "Following discussions between Rafael Benitez and Pako Ayestaran, it has been agreed that it would be in the best interests of all parties if Pako leaves his post as assistant manager. Pako, however, will remain under contract to us until next summer.

"The club want to thank Pako for his hard work and contribution to our success over the past three years."

Interesting arrangement !

We need to bring a bit of passion back to our bench, so I'd welcome Jewell or Sammy Lee if they were to return to Anfield.
1) You'll Never Walk Alone
2) pass and move is the Liverpool groove
3) FIRST WILL ALWAYS BE FIRST AND SECOND WILL ALWAYS BE NOTHING.
4) If Torres has scored 60 league goals for Liverpool by the start of the 2011/12 season, I'll say he's better than Owen.
