Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Guido the Killer Pimp » Thu Jul 26, 2007 12:22 am

looks alright to me. it's certainly a radical departure from the bog standard modern footy ground like boro/coventry/derby/sunderland/southampton/leicester, and even a departure from the emirates which looks like the big paris one which has been around for years. fits in well with liverpool - proudly individual & unique. sad to see us leave anfield but that's life boys & girls. bring it on.

They should coat all the stands with that metallic shine that the Kop has.

In sunlight it will be spectacular and at night under the lights and with all that glass it will look even better.

Tell me, is it 60,000 as in these pictures or 78,000?

If its 60,000 how will they go to 78,000, fill in those two corner ends and do away with the glass? I guess it would be cheaper than lifting the roof but would lose its unique feature and just become your average goldfish bowl.

i dont know if anyone has mentioned this or asked this  but will there be any significant momento from anfield in the new design???

one thing I havnt heard is the flag pole which was there from day 1

other things id be concerned about is will there be a shankley gates and paisly tribute ???

i love and think the new desgign is spectacular but it should incorporate the essential elements of anfield and our history in it and as yet i havnt heard of such....

Shankly and Paisley gates are going to the new ground along with the Hillsborough Memorial. As for the flag pole, I think that will be taken as well.

The trophies though won't be taken to the new ground. It's being sold outside Lime Street :D :D
only joking folks. The trophies along with the rest of our history in the museum will be going to the new ground as well.

I wonder if Steve Morgan has been asked to build the ground? And if he has wonder if he accpeted?  :D

4) If Torres has scored 60 league goals for Liverpool by the start of the 2011/12 season, I'll say he's better than Owen.

We definitely need more images.

They should remove the giant "LFC" from the Kop and the "Liverpool" on the advertising boards too.

They don't look right.

We need good pictures of every stand from every possible perspective. We need an overhead picture, we need an exterior and interior "tour".

Day and night images.

Personally I hope they don't fill the corners in. I like that shaft of daylight that will pour into the stadium. It will look very dramatic and different.

Stade de France in Paris is an incredible stadium.I will be happy if we produce anything nearly as magnificent.

If we've got to leave Anfield, I can't think of a better looking stadium to move to.

Impressed. Very impressed. :nod

during the sober light of day.. the designs look awesome.

Can't believe how steep those stands look. I agree with Manhattan and hope they don't fill the corners in.

anyone esle notice the pitch looks like its set a couple of metres below ground level?

With the sharp shafts of light from the open corners and partially transparent and bizarre looking roof which will certainly prevent a lot of sound escaping, the very steep stands rising high into the air and the Kop which will basically be a seemingly endless sea of humanity, I personally think it will create a VERY intimidating atmosphere for any opposing team.

Is it just me or does anyone else think that there is still a lack of information about the new stadium.  I was expecting more than what we have seen today.

Was anyone else?

This is just the planning stage. Architects just want to get an impression across to the planners. The planners can then say Yes or No or Yes but this needs to be changed. Theres no point in them doing detailed drawings until they get the ok from the planners because it might all be abortive work.
