Marseille is sitting on all the aces. We want to get rid, Marseille has persuaded Cissé to not accept anything but them.

No surprise really

God thats awful. And to think we paid £14Mil for him.

Well :censored: it let him go good riddance and goodbye.

I never hated the the lad but I think his comeback to the team in 2005 gave the rest of us a sense of lift in some sense during our run to the final.

I wish him the best of luck. Break a leg son!  :D

Marseille have got Cisse for cheap.

7.5m Euros, (£5m) supplied with a percentage on a possible resale for Liverpool.

some Reports from france say Cisse is meeting Rafa and Parry today.

Google Translation:

Cissé takes the things in hands The OM impatiently awaits the response of Liverpool for Djibril Cissé. The player will be in Liverpool this Monday to make fold his leaders. Impatience is of setting in the rows of the Marseilles leaders about the final transfer of Djibril Cissé. So much so that the player himself decided to take the things in hands. He will go today to Liverpool to meet once again Rick Parry the executive director of Reds, and the coach Rafael Benitez announces this Monday Provence. The objective of this displacement of international French is to convince his employers to let it play to OM the next season

I hope they have inserted a percentage for future sales, as i think he'll do the business at Marseille and end up going for a bit of money in the future. He is still a young lad and in that league should score loads next season.

I thought that he was terrible. The touch of a rapist.

Glad he is going and would take whatever we can get. Can't believe the fool GH paid that much for him.

I just think he has no brain.

From what I've read it's not even sure Marseille wants to pay £5m upfront and instead insist on some kind of loan deal.

Put him in the reserve team if Cissé insist only Marseille is an option.

a good player who was unfairly overpriced. I have no doubt it in the right system he will score loads of goals for whoever is new team is. It was never gonna work out for him because rafa wants team players and not "tit-liners". Which is probably the same reason owen wont play for us again. Rafa thinks he is too selfish. A pity.

Good luck Djib

They did want a loan deal with a promise to buy next year.  Liverpool rejected this.  Marseille will have to pay something for Cisse.  French Media says Marseille defiantly put in a bid.  Some say 7.5 euro's with sell on percentage.  Some say 9 mil Euro's. They are waiting for Liverpool to come back with an answer.

thats almost as good as heskey

:talktothehand

I think you'll find his ratio was in fact better than Heskeys'. Heskey averaged a goal every 3.8 games (virtually 1 in 4) . Cisse was virtually 1 in 3 .

Stats don't lie, he wasn't great but then only Fowler and Owen have really produced the goods in recent times

Selected/Recent Liverpool Strikers

1. Owen - 158 goals in 297 appearances (0.532 goals/app)
2. Rush - 346 goals in 658 appearances (0.526 goals/app)
3. Fowler - 183 goals in 369 appearances (0.496 goals/app)
4. Collymore - 37 goals in 83 appearances (0.446 goals/app)
5. Crouch - 31 goals in 98 appearances (0.316 goals/app)
6. Cisse - 24 goals in 79 appearances (0.304 goals/app)
7. Kuyt - 14 goals in 48 appearances (0.292 goals/app)
8. Camara - 10 goals in 37 appearances (0.270 goals/app)
9. Heskey - 60 goals in 228 appearances (0.263 goals/app)
10. Baros - 27 goals in 108 appearances (0.250 goals/app)
11. Bellamy - 9 goals in 42 appearances (0.214 goals/app)
12. Riedle - 15 goals in 76 appearances (0.197 goals/app)

Covers most of the names worth mentioning, and with enough games to deem significant, that have played in the Premiership. Most of Rush's goals will have been scored pre-Premiership of course, but it's worth comparing him with Fowler and Owen while they're in a little list

The only thing I would say there is - those stats do not tell you how many of those appearances were as substitute, etc.

I think if you look at it that way, and remove all sub appearances, the stats would look pretty different for the top 3. (I believe Fowler would be above Owen and Rush.)

Not to mention Cisse's lack of a 90 minute appearance...

Hello lads,
As you may know, this a Marseille's fan speaking. Having read your posts concerning Cisse's probable transfer to OM, I can say that many of you lack intellectual consistency : how can you claim that Djib was rubbish,  a terrible player etc., and at the same time claim that on the transfer market he's worth much more than what we're going to pay for him? Either he' s good and expensive, or he's terrible and cheap. Of course our own interest is to have you thinking he is terrible (which we think he isn't). The truth is : you were never able to make the most of his skills, you constantly misused Cisse and never realised how good he could be when used where and how he had to be used. Stop whining, lads. The blame is all yours!

He is a limited player who will do well in a limited league at a club with limited ambitions who play in a limited way.

That is no disrespect to Marseille, he will be a good signing for them but he isn’t cut out to play for Liverpool. He will be a valuable player for Marseille so asking for £8 Mil is not unreasonable considering his record and reputation in France.
