Mancini offer rejected - Mancini from roma

Roma are reported to have rejected a bid from Liverpool for Alessandro Mancini.

Reports emanating from Italy suggest Roma have shunned an offer from the English club for the talented Brazilian.

Reds boss Rafa Benitez is believed to have put Mancini on his list of transfer targets this summer as he looks to add to his attacking options at Anfield.

Mancini enjoyed a fine season with Roma last term and he has established himself as a key player in the Giallorossi side.

Liverpool have been quiet in the transfer market so far this summer, but they are believed to have offered €19million (£12.7million) for the skilful winger.

Roma have previously rebuffed Liverpool overtures and are thought to be putting together a new deal to keep Mancini in the Italian capital until 2012.

hmm me wouldn't mind mancini  :D

Apparently the Italian press today is reporting that Roma have sold Chivu to Inter (for €12m - and are buying the rest of the contract on Pizarro (from Inter) for €5.5m. They are also trying  to buy Juan from Bayer Leverkusen for €11m and want Quagliarelli from Udinese - but Udinese want €19m for him... which Roma simply do not have.

The speculation is that they may have to include one or more young players to reduce the price... The other alternative is to sell Mancini.

Roma would see it as good business to swap Mancini to us to enable them to buy Quagliarelli (the new up-and-coming azzuri striker). They have been pretty quiet on Mancini since the season ended. I would guess they view his sale as a difficult choice - but if it allows them to boost their strikeforce...

Mancini is a very good winger with flair who in Roma has also played support striker (to Totti). While he mostly plays left, he can (and does) switch easily to the right.  He is not the most defensively-minded wide player (but has had a defensive unit at Roma that encouraged that).

He is, like most flair players however, a bit of a confidence player - earlier in the season his form was patchy and he had had a well-publicised falling out with Totti (the local untouchable deity in Roma). His form picked up dramatically as the season wore on and he scored some great goals and more importantly was a constant threat from the left - repeatedly taking the ball to the byline before cutting back and lofting some delightful balls into Totti in the box. He also loves attacking the goal and interplaying clever one-twos in the box - but that relationship may take time to build in LFC...

Mancini would probably consider a move to Liverpool... Roma would sell him if it allowed them to in turn get a key target. He is very different to what we currently have (a cross between Garcia and Pennant??).

The price we reportedly offered is more than Inter would pay... time to negotiate hard Parry!   :D

I would prefer Mancini to Malouda from the little I have seen of them, especially as Malouda doesn't seem overly keen on coming, and seems to be hedging his bets. Mancini is perhaps more of a typical winger than Malouda with more skills and trickery but less workrate. As Lyon want £17million (bit overpriced in my view) for Malouda, anything less than £15million for Mancini seems about the right price.

would love to see him come to liverpool these are the types of players we need to make it to the top of the tree come the end of the season, i think anything around the £15 mil mark would be a great buy

lets keep fingers crossed parry can get the job done asap so no one else can slip in and start upping the price ( chelski scum you know who you are   )

mancini is exactly the sort of player we have been looking at to come in on the wing
im fed up of hopefuls but not quite superstars playing on our wings
its about time we had a worldclass winger which opponents highlighted as a main threat, and mancini fits that category  :)

With the TV money next year and investment from the new owners we should be making some serious bids for these players, 12mil isn't going to cut it for one of the best left wingers in the world. 25 mil for Torres and 18 mil for Mancini might actually tempt the clubs into selling.

I dont no about the whole winger thing,i think we should regig the whole system. If you look at the players we have that are good enough,we should build around them.Another centre half is a must anyway+if your going to pay big money for someone thats good enough, well then he should play+not be sitting on the bench.Id be a big fan of us either going 3-4-3 or 3-5-2.Alves+the 2 Mialto lads would be great signings, along with Torres. Then we wouldnt have to splash maga bucks on 2 wingers that might'nt even work out.If he needs ever to go back 4-4-2,Kewell+Pennent would be more that capable of doing a job for us..every so often.

Would love to see Mancini play in our Red shirt. Pace, skill, the original Christiano Ronaldo (without the goofyness and being a tw.at). I hope for further developments.
