Watched "Shooter" last night . Nothing in it that you have actually seen before but if you like guns and your action fast and furious you'll find it reasonably entertaining . A kind of Fugitive meets Rambo (minus the speech impediment) .

Plot
"Suspended over a deep gully of disbelief, where logic takes on more bullets than the bad guys, Shooter still makes the grade as hard- :censored: action escapism. Props to Mark Wahlberg, an actor whose fierce gaze and sneaky humor can carry a movie over the rockiest terrain. Even one that plays like a shotgun marriage between The Fugitive and The Bourne Identity. Wahlberg, who finally got that Oscar nomination (for The Departed) that he also deserved for Boogie Nights and I Heart Huckabees, plays Bob Lee Swagger (great name), a former Marine scout sniper. Emotionally wounded by the death of his partner on a failed mission in Africa, Swagger takes off with his dog to a mountaintop ranch (strikingly shot in British Columbia). It's a visit from retired Col. Isaac Johnson (a glowering Danny Glover) that gets Swagger back in the game when the colonel plays the patriotism card. There's a plot to kill the president, and the colonel needs Swagger to predict how it will happen before it happens so he can stop it. In less time than it takes to say "patsy," Swagger is on the run as the most hunted man in America".

Has it got Spacey and Samuel Jackson in it.

I have seen it, but cant remember it or the ending, obviously something to do with negotiating and hostages etc ...

Watched a 'comedy' called GRILLED the other night starring Ray Ramano (Everybody Loves Raymond) and Kevin James (King of Queens, fat bloke in Hitch) and it fookin stank. Hardly a funny moment in the whole 80 odd minutes. It's about two door to door meat salesmen ??? who've got to make a big sale or they'll lose their jobs. In their desperation for a sale they end up getting mixed up with gangsters. Avoid this like the plague, absolute sh.ite. :p

Watched a russian war movie " 9th company" . Supposedly based on a true event during the russian occupation of afghanistan .

If Afghanistan was the Russian military's Viet Nam , then this movie is the Russian film industry's "Full Metal Jacket" , and therein lies the problem . There is not a single scene that you haven't seen before in countless other war films, from the grizzled vet that barks and kicks our main characters in boot camp, the letters recieved from home (there's always one guy who doesn't get one),the drug and alcohol fuelled parties through to the hard action where our ultimately heroic but doomed recruits at last indulge in some action that at least stopped me from nodding off . The movie is series of cliches from start to finish. A great pity as I thought we might have seen some intelligent commentary on the impact Afghanistan had on the Russians and vice versa.

Don't waste your money on this one but if like me you're able to download it , it a least passes away an evening when there's sod all else on the telly.
