Would you not think that given his age, just like Mascherano, they would want him to mature a little bit more before they sold him outright?

I fail to see which club in any case would be willing to pay enough to secure him on a permanent deal, how much do you anticipate he would cost?

His release clause is circa £40m.

Unless there is an agreement with West Ham whereby if a certain amount was offered he would be exempt from fulfilling the remaining 3 years at West Ham then I can't see it being a permanent deal.

I think the difference between Mascherano and Tevez is Tevez is hot right now.  Mascherano was not even playing at West Ham so it made sense for Liverpool to take him on loan first.  This was good for the player, the club and MSI who will cash in afterwards.  Whether it was Liverpool or someone else.

Tevez had such a good 2nd half of the season and the same clubs who were tracking him last summer have even more reason to watch him now.  MSI has a £40 mil clause however regardless if his sold now or after a loan period I doubt they will get that £40 mil.  I feel they would settle for less and if Tevez is impressive in the Copa America there will always be clubs in Europe who will pay that big fee.  Inter fits the bill.

Mascherano's pretty hot right now aswell!

MSI would arguably earn more if he went on loan at a top club. If he flourished at a top club his value would rise.

He cost MSI £14m and his release clause is £40m, unless a club comes in with a £25m+ offer I can't see them selling him outright. I doubt whether a club would come in with that type of money at the moment. I consider it more likely that MSI would want to milk him some more through a loan deal with a view to arranging a permanent transfer at the end.

you missed this one :D

Where u get that from saint??

Same interview?

I got it from here mate

Tom Hicks has promised Liverpool fans transfer activity next week and vowed the club will improve their Premiership record to make a serious title challenge next season.

The Reds co-owner was speaking in the wake of the new contracts signed by captain Steven Gerrard and his deputy Jamie Carragher.

But despite being confident there will be new signings and more current players penning new deals in the near future,he has demanded boss Rafael Benitez produce a "consistent" side next term.

Hicks, speaking on Sky Sports News, made it clear results must improve to compete with Chelsea and Manchester United.

He said: "Our goal is to play good football all season next time out. In the Premiership, you have to be so consistent.

"We lost far too many games on the road, particularly to lesser teams.

"That's the goal going into next season, to try to win those games that we have not been winning in the league.
"Only then will we be able to give Manchester United a good run for their money."

Hicks is also confident that revised plans for the club's new stadium will be revealed soon.

He said: "The design is now final, it's spectacular and I can't wait for everybody to see it.

"I think our fans will love it - it's very creative architecture, very contemporary but also unique to Liverpool.

Benitez returns from holiday at the end of the week keen to conclude new contract discussions with Jose Reina, Xabi Alonso and Steve Finnan.

And Hicks, added: "I would say to fans 'just be patient', because we're talking to Rafa often. We are going to sign some good players, some good young players.

"The academy is now under Rafa's control and that will also help us produce our own young players.

"(Chief executive) Rick Parry is in charge of getting the contracts negotiated and I think the fans will like the outcome. Maybe we'll hear something in the next week."

OK, here's a bonus one: fresh from becoming the worst top scorer in Ligue 1 history (with a paltry 15 goals), Pauleta is to hightail it away from PSG, who are hoping to hoodwink Benfica into swapping him for Simao Sabrosa. Who has confirmed he'll go to either PSG or Lyon. Or, just to finish with another revenant, Liverpool.     http://football.guardian.co.uk/rumourmill

La Liga - Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o has again hit out at reports that he will leave the Liga side at the end of the season.

Milan are the latest club to confirm their interest in signing the Cameroon international saying they would approach Barca at the end of the season.

But Eto'o remains adamant that he will not be leaving the club he has played for since 2004 and with whom he has won two Liga titles and the Champions League.

"I am tired of saying it," the 26-year-old said. "I have a contract and I am in control of the situation. The club can't get rid of me because of my contract and as we both want to continue anyway, there is nothing more to talk about.

"I am staying at Barcelona and I don't know where these stories saying I'm going are coming from."

Barcelona are just one of three teams who can still win the league this year heading into the final day of the season.

Level on 73 points with Real Madrid, but second due to an inferior head-to-head, Barca travel to Gimnastic needing to win, while hoping Real lose to Eto'o former club Mallorca. Sevilla are just two points back in third.

"I don't play for Mallorca any more, although I would love to return one day and I can't ask for anything from them. It's all out of our hands now," Eto'o said when he was asked if he hoped for any favours from his former teammates.

"Barcelona's error this year has been to think we had already won the league before it had even started. We won two titles but when you start again no one is champion. Obviously, I hope we do it on the last day, though."

Liverpool boss Benitez to have £55M for market
tribalfooball.com - June 11, 2007

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez could have up to £55 million to spend this summer - despite the club's American owners warning over the size of his transfer budget.
With Liverpool making £29m from their run to the Champions League final, plus the Sky TV and Premiership prize money to come, Benitez can expect £40m plus to spend this summer.

With maybe £15m from the sale of fringe players, including a possible fee from Marseille for Djibril Cisse, Benitez can bolster his cash kitty considerably.

any1 else heard of 55million being given for transfers ?
