does anybody know ???

when will this "PLAN" be revealed by the americans ? and if we have all this cash available for transfers and buying new players then why are the americans telling rafa  they wont be spending like a drunken sailor ?

This may explain the Henry part of your post:

Henry article

As for the quoted part,

I wouldn't expect anyone at the club to "reveal" our transfer plans.

I would also say that Gillett saying we won't be spending money "like a drunken sailor" could be translated as "we are not going to p!ss money up the wall". I'd say that's a reasonable thing to say.

thats fair enough LFC2007 .....

so henry staying put.....

and ur comments re reasonable thing to say i agree with you... fair enough to play ur cards close to your chest look at manure... we didnt see those 2 young guns nani and anderson being picked up hargraves was always in the news though

in contrast though is it another way of saying we are going down the same path as rafa has already spoken about.... if we dont get our 1st targets quickly then we will miss out and be left with 3rd and 4th targets and you cant win a title or champions league final like that....

most of the fans would agree splashing out on tevez or henry or eto wouldnt be spending money like a drunken sailor

look at wat happened in those arsenal games earlier this year where they blew us away....

we all know we have the goods with gerrard, carragher, reina, alonso and now we need to add some final touches of outstanding quality to get us back to winning at home and away week after week and bring back the title to anfield...

some speculation:

trezeguet anyone ? would make a brilliant signing imo... one of the bes finishers in world football today.... always been linked to liverpool..

------------------------------------------------------

TURIN, Italy (AP) - David Trezeguet will not be playing for Juventus next season.

"There's no possibility of me staying at Juventus," the France striker said after Juventus' 3-2 loss to Spezia in the final round of the Serie B. "There's no more room for negotiations."
The 29-year-old Trezeguet had been in talks with the Turin club to extend his contract beyond June 2008.

"If (the club) had said that they wanted me, it would have been much better, rather than offer me a ridiculous contract," Trezeguet said Sunday, without divulging the terms of the proposed deal. "I wanted to go on with Juve but they didn't want to."

Trezeguet was forced to stay at Juventus at the beginning of the season after the club was stripped of its 2005 and 2006 Serie A titles and relegated to the Serie B because of the Italian match-fixing scandal.

"I did what the club asked me to do at the beginning of the year: 15 goals as promised to (former coach Didier) Deschamps," Trezeguet said.

Deschamps left Juventus by mutual consent last month after guiding the team to the Serie B title. He was replaced by former Chelsea boss Claudio Ranieri.

"In seven years I have earned the respect of the fans and my teammates," Trezeguet said. "But I feel that the new club has little faith in me. The club has made other choices, despite my 140 goals."

Juventus is expected to sign Italy and Udinese striker Vincenzo Iaquinta this week.

Tevez: I'm Inter Milan
Tuesday, June 12, 2007
West Ham's Argentina striker Carlos Tevez has revealed he is "interested" in joining Italian champions Internazionale.

The 23-year-old, who is currently preparing for this month's Copa America in Venezuela, moved to Upton Park from Brazilian side Corinthians at the start of last season in what later proved a hugely controversial switch.

But after securing Barclays Premier League survival for Alan Curbishley's side with the solitary strike during a 1-0 win over Manchester United on the final day of the season, speculation has increased that he will leave the Londoners this summer.

Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea have all been linked with Tevez but, with international team-mates Hernan Crespo, Julio Cruz, Walter Samuel, Esteban Cambiasso, Javier Zanetti, Nicolas Burdisso, Mariano Gonzalez and Santiago Solari already plying their trade at the San Siro, it seems Serie A may now be his favoured destination.

"I know Inter is interested in me," said Tevez.

"It would be nice to play in Italy, especially in a team that has so many Argentinians.

"There will be some meetings, some discussions, but I really don't know anything official yet."

Trez is a great finisher.  His record is a good as anyone's and gets undeserved stick for no reason.

Tevez will probably end up at Inter.

Tevez I think is. Trez wouldnt be.  Trez would want big wages but his quality.  Not really a Rafa type of player though as many times Trez will not be involved in the game however what he does do is score goals.  I would rather have a striker who may not get involved much but scores goals instead of someone like Kuyt who runs around all day but never looks like scoring.

Wouldnt be surprised to see Trez back in France at Lyon.  Juve are out of order.  Trez stuck with them last year even though they were relegated.  He deserves what ever contract he wants.

trez might not be rafa's type but he sure does sound like what we need....

got some liverpool traits like loyalty that juve dont understand and as you say he dont need to be in the game much but he can score... and thats quality - another liverpool trait thats gone missing

trez sounds perfect for us  :buttrock

I hope so Moosey...

I'm not too bothered at the moment.  Not many deals have been finalised yet, only Man U seem to have been really active.  As long as we have signed someone decent before the first week in July I will be happy.

I'm not interested in Trezeguet as I think he is too old and has played in the slowest league on the planet, Seria A.  I think the step up to the Premiership will be too much for him in the first year and after that he will be nearly 31?? Plus he has been playing in Seria B for the past year and only scored 15 goals??  Not that impressive really.
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

Liverpool co-owner George Gillett insists there has been no fall-out with Rafa Benitez over transfer funds.

However, the American tycoon says the club will resist "spending like a drunken sailor" this summer.

Rumours abounded of millions being made available to the Reds boss following the takeover by Gillett and Tom Hicks.

Samuel Eto'o and David Villa were mooted as possible transfer targets, but with little movement so far this summer it has been suggested that financial restrictions have forced Benitez to lower his sights.

I reckon this tells us what we need to know. There will not be any big names this summer.  :glare:

It's all about interpretation. Spending like a drunken sailor for me is to pay the amount of money Manchester have paid for unproven players. Who of you knew who Nani was 1 year ago? he's not a Ronaldo. He's not an Eto'o.

The owner has said that he'll follow a plan. Rafa's plan. Rafa had an offer from Real Madrid, his LOCAL CLUB FFS, and he rejected it. The owners says that there's nothing more far from the truth than saying that Rafa and him have a bad relationship. So I believe the owner, and I believe Rafa when he says he's satisfied.

Until proven the opposite, I believe in the new board. And I believe that Rafa will have a clear idea of what he needs and the board will make everything to achieve it. If they don't, Rafa will be honest as he was after the final. But for now, I don't see quotes that are worrying. It's the press who make up and interpret things the worst way possible. And if you don't believe me , remember what's the credibility of the things written by the press:

* Rafa leaving to Real Madrid? ----> :censored:.

* Alonso close to Barcelona? ------> :censored:.

* Problems in the negotiations? ------> :censored: and players signing 5 year contracts.

And now, the americans not backing Rafa? ---> :censored:. And it will be proven, I hope.
