Better yet, let's add a "zap" button such that, were, say, three "responsible" members to push it simultaneously, the offending blurt would receive an electric shock through his keyboard.  WUM problem sorted!  :D

In the traditional usenet internet forums (text based, you cannot post images normally) there's that option, and it's so handy both for trolls and user that are not worth reading. Your news client will do the work for you.

But this database-based forums are provided by a server, very little of the job is done by the web browser. THus the amount of info that the server should save to keep track of every of our ban lists would be too big, as the info that is shown in the screen is generated instantly and it must be done quickly. That's why there's not that option in this kind of forum.

Bottomline if you don't care about explanations, very awkward, it can't be done. :)

most wums can be spotted a mile off as they're straight into gen chat within 5 minutes of registering. most of the proper members in gen chat just kind of slowly drift there once they've been a member for a fair while

Who was that Swindon fella and where did it all go wrong with him. I read his first post and its probably the best post I have read for a while on here ?

I thought the Jorge fella was a Manc, they were my suspicions, and Amiga and Orlandod were the same people Oasis. He's a f.ucking joke.  :no

I think you'll find it was in the Riise thread, where he decided he'd rather talk about his bisexual ginger lust than about football.  ???

I am a member of a forum for Irish League football, which is used by all the supporters for all of the Irish league teams. Its not just for one team. We all have our own sections for threads about how the teams playing and new players etc but we all share the General chat etc. It costs me £10.00 a year to use the forum. (The money then goes to a different charity each year.)  That makes me a Patron and I am able to use all the facilities. And I am happy enough to pay the tenner. If you dont pay, you can only be a registered member, where you can only post in certain threads (they cant post in general chat) and you cant use the pm facility. There is also an ignore button which is brilliant. To use it, you have to go to the person you want to ignore's profile, click on ignore and you cant read any posts by that person.
The forum is used by genuine supporters who want to talk about football, not cause trouble or spam the threads.
Maybe newkit could introduce a yearly fee of some kind, say a tenner, to use all the facilities eg General chat and the Pm facility. Most of the wum's spam general chat and send other long standing members pm's. Maybe introducing a payment scheme would stop this???

Not sure about paying, might lose a lot of members, but the ignore function sounds brilliant. Do you just have to click on that member then you won't be able to see their posts?

I'd pay a tenner but probably would end up in supersubs retirement fund :D

Nah doubt many members would and it would cut newbies out.

You have to go into the members profile and just under their name is the ignore button. Their name will still come up when they post in a thread but you won't be able to read what they have said. Instead it will say "you have choosen to ignore this member" Its a great feature. We where having a bit of a problem with a wee girl from Scotland, who was posting a load of sh!te on the Glentoran pages. She was a Spurs supporter who decided to support the Glens because both teams have a cockeral (sp) on their badge. She was going on about things she did'nt know and was going on the Linfield pages and saying very nasty things about their manager. Most of the ILFers put her on iggy, and eventully she was barred.

I would mind in the least paying a tenner to use this site. It would mean that only genuine Liverpool fans would use it and would maybe stop the spamming.

I think the ignore button won't work. Many threads started by WUMs actually end up generating good debate after they have been banned. If you ignore them, you may miss a good footie discussion.

As an aside - Who is the retarded mongoloid that is bumping all the polls? Can 'Guests' bump polls by voting? If so, is it possible to block 'Guests' from voting?

For example ?

You certainly can't apply your statement to the latest attacks by WUMS on this forum . The only debates their inane links to porno sites raise are

1, Do they think we're incapable of finding our own porn ?
2, More importantly , WHY DOES A FORUM OF THIS SIZE AND POPULARITY HAVE SO FEW MODERATORS ?
