once again we have a total muppet loged in with the intent of ruing the forum. obviously with his comments he has a gripe with mods so we all have to suffer,

ok my solution is that we stop taking registrations and any new registrations have to be ratified by a mod (i am sure they can do checks to some extent) and new posters have to be restricted to one thread until they have one hundred or two hundred posts. a WUM should be easy to spot then by the speed that they get through thme posts. this will give time to weed out the WUMs, a new posters thread that the have to stay in, we can enter and post but they cant post outside that thread.

I agree on the diagnostic, it's a bad thing for the forum this wind up merchants.

The cure you propose is a solution that has been used in other forums. Persistent trolls fake to be a good lad in the probationary threads, only to start the wind up shortly after being regarded as a full member. Oasis isn't too patient and starts the wind up soon, but other trolls are.

At the end of the day that means more work for the mods, and not solving the problem completely, meanwhile it becomes a bit awkward for the decent newbies to join the forum. That's why I disagree in the cure, but I agree on the diagnostic.

The best thing would be to delete wum posts. They do not deserve to be read. At the moment they get 5 warnings and they cannot post, but it's far more frustrating for a troll to see their posts deleted :;):

why not get the mods to pick a handful of trusted, regular members and give them the power to delete posts. then when the mods arnt logged in there should most of the time be someone here just to delete a few posts and stop good threads being ruined.

i know its asking for a bit of work from the 'chosen ones' but it'll be worth it...

That would be a good measure, having a hierarchy of cleaning stuff. If it was possible to give an user the possibilty of just deleting posts to delete the obvious wum posts, it would help a lot the full mods -with warning and banning privileges- work.

The best cure to wum posts is to remove them.

The best treatment is to ignore them, a troll NEEDS BADLY to be read and to see he causes trouble. If you ignore+remove, they're discouraged soon.

yes, about 5 regulars with the power to stop someone posting until the mod comes in and deals with it.

i hate to say this but there are too many times when there is no mod online, that is not having a go at the mods, they have lives to lead, its just stating a fact

I think a lockdown along with registration approval is definitely the way forward.

No new threads on matchdays provides more organisation and more centralised conversations.
