Possible buyout? - Just heard on the radio

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Paul C » Mon Dec 04, 2006 8:11 pm

Rafael Benitez today admitted he was excited about Liverpool's future after the club confirmed they were in discussions with Dubai International Capital about a possible investment in the club.
Benitez is concentrating all his efforts on preparing his team for Wednesday night's Champions League clash at the Ataturk Stadium, but he admits today's developments on the search for investment have been a pleasing distraction.

Benitez said: "I have talked to the chairman (David Moores) and chief
executive (Rick Parry) about this and I was pleased with what I heard.

"At the moment I only really want to concentrate on the match here, but of course it is always good for a club to have more money and more possibilities.

"For now we are trying to be focused about the game, we will have plenty of time to talk about such things in the future."

Liverpool's immediate future centres on tomorrow night's game in Istanbul - at the scene of their heroic Champions League final success in May 2005.

With qualification for the last sixteen of this year's competition already secured there's less pressure on the Reds this time around, but Benitez is hoping the young players he has included in his squad will take inspiration from the last time Liverpool visited this city.

He said: "I was delighted with the motivation of my team here 18 months ago and I have always believed that we can go on and achieve more trophies together.

"We can do it, we can win more things together. We have the quality and the right mentality for it. The hunger is still there.

"For me the final was the best day of my football life, and I want the fact that the youngsters are playing here to be an inspiration.

"If they can just talk to the senior lads, see what they achieved, I believe that is an example that could see the beginning of something new from the young players who will follow."

This is great news for the club imo

From what i can gather from the various news sources, these fella's are not going to invest into something as just a personal plaything like the russian. They are serious business men and are winners in whatever they do. Just a word of caution tho for those supporters expecting 100's of millions spent on players in January and the summer.

These fella's are in it for the long term and will want to make a profit on there investment.

We will get our new ground and new sponsers , but they won't make funds available willy nilly for new players. Rafa is'nt like that anyway, he has a plan and they will provide the funds to help make that plan work , but they won't buy players for the sake of it.

From what i can gather ( going by there investment into horse racing ) they believe in sound business practices and are very successful in that area of sport.

In my opinion Moores and Parry have the best interests of the club at heart and will give up there stake in the club only to people who are like minded regarding the club.

They are winners and will make us winners once again. Watch out Chelsea and Man utd . The mighty Reds are on there way back and we will be looking over our shoulders at you for many seasons to come.

COME ON REDMEN!!!!

That just about sums up what I want from the deal Igor. What we dont want is some t0sser throwing money at us for players then disappearing, leaving us like Leeds with no money to pay the inflated wages.

Not quite, I want them to fund our future remain here, but have little to do with the club, but that won't happen.

This is such good news. Obviosuly touch wood everything goes smootley and nothing :censored: up but it will give us all such a breather knowing that next year we will have such a stronger squad.

At Valencia Rafa worked with a limited budget and as pretty much done so at Liverpool so it will be intresting to see him splash out a bit.

I dont thing though that we will turn into another Chelsea in random spending. However one thing that will happen is that if we were to go for a player Rafa can make sure he gets his man and rather than being outpriced and having to settle for a cheaper option.

I wonder which players Rafa will show the door come the summer.

Also i think the fact that Rafa has commented on it means that were closer to a deal than were being led to believe.
