As he showed last night his game these days is based on link play (like sheringham) and great movement and clinical finishing

hes only 31 now, so thats 9 more years we have of robbie

i would love it if he got more of a run out (probaly subs bench) cause he has a star quality that others do not........

I think that players that base their ability on pace and explosion tend to suffer more the aging. Probably Bellamy with 32 years won't be that useful. But players like Robbie that their best is their finishing and roaming in the area can last longer.

A bit like John Aldridge, who was the second best scorer in Spain during 2 seasons when he was 31. Then he went to Tranmere Rovers(he could have served well in a top league team). He was never pacy, he didn't run that much, so his positioning, his movement of the neck to finish, he's cleverness and his experience were a plus.

I've read too many times not this season but the last Robbie "has past his best". I don't know his best, but he's still a very good striker, and he'll suffer less from aging than others.

Sabes my friend, "at his best" he was something very very special indeed. It remains a crime to this day that Robbie is not considered one of Englands all-time greats. He was an absolutely fantastic player with a drill like shot with both feet, brilliant int he air for a small fella and a football brain second to none.
I think only Solskjaar in recent years has the same instinctive close-range tap-in finishes, Rooney has the ability to smash it in a similar way to Robbie with little backlift, and in the air he was a Miroslav Klose type with big spring and perfect timing. He had a Paul Scholesesque ghost into space football brain and a feisty little attitude on him aswell.
One day Arsenal went to Anfield boasting one of the strongest defences in the history of the Premiership and Fowler scored a hat-trick in four minutes. He truly was a sensational goalscorer and footballer, much superior at his best to Owen in my opinion, and perhaps even more controversially Ian Rush aswell.

Whether he can play as long as Sheringham, well I doubt it to be honest but I hope he proves me wrong. His absolutely sumptious finish last night was the calling card of one of modern day footballs spectacularly great strikers.

I would love it if he did but I reckon unlike Sheringham, Robbies had too many injuries that will prove his ultimate downfall, but he's back and lets enjoy him while he is here, That strike last night was class, cocky, arrogant made to look easy, classic GOD

I think he could carry on that long, but not with us.

As Sheringham got older he had to move from Manure, on to Spurs, and now a bit-part role at West Ham.

If Robbie wanted to last that long he'd probably have to go down the same route, personally I think he should finish his career with the club he loves, and then retire rather than taking a step down to smaller clubs.

I don't know about that, he's had several bad injuries, has problems with fitness amongst other things. Only time will tell, but I think if he does (which is a big if) it won't be with Liverpool football club. I think he'll retire at his home personally and I hope he does, I couldn't take seeing Fowler in another teams shirt again.

Sabre, Fowler is one of the finishers I've ever seen. I like BigMike find it sickening that he is not considered as a great striker of his generation. I think that's due to him being around the likes of Les Ferdinand, Teddy Sheringham, Andy Cole and Alan Shearer when they were at the top of their game. To me Fowler was better than all of them, not just in terms of intelligence and ability, but because Fowler had character and I think there should be more players like him who can have a laugh as well as being serious.

This might be rather stupid and please take me up on it if you wish, but I compare Fowler to Ferenc Puskas. Both are top quality finishers, both have great touch, great ability on and off the ball, both had a beer gut by the time they were near their 30's, but both have gone unrecognised in terms of football on the whole and it's quite sad, but lucky for us Reds we know the true value of Robbie and last night just proved that he may not be the Robbie of old, but he'll never lose that instinct in front of goal.

He's a special player, a special character and one who will be sorely missed when he leaves the game.
