I noticed that several people were having a pop at RF yesterday in spite of the fact that he scored our goal. "He's too slow", "too old", came the cries. I feel that some people here have forgotten that RF often seemed to go AWOL in games also in the past--before suddenly emerging on the stage to net a winner. It is actually a weapon in a goal predator's armoury to look innocuous much of the time--before moving in for the kill!

I predict a minimum of 10 goals for Robbie this season--and possibly a lot more (always providing he avoids injury)

I think he did well to last as long as he did. he made enough runs for me and he took that penalty as cooly as Zizou himself.

He played like you would expect him to play I think, which is why I would have started with Crouch. Robbie has missed a couple of weeks training and it showed. Not in so much as he couldn't run around constantly, but in his touch and distribution which is normally excellent but was a couple of degrees out yesterday. He remains a fabulous asset, and his movement for the header in the early minutes of yesterdays game showed why. He tracked off the centre half like he wanted it over the top and then dipped in front for the header from gerrards cross. The poor fecker playing against him didn't know which way he'd gone and the bemused look on his face afterwards was a picture.
Robbie just needs a couple of weeks in training to sharpen up the touch. It's like I thought earlier in the season though, he needs a target with him to play off these days I think.

fowler is fowler and always will be. he is a predator and will always score goals with the right service (and sometimes of his own making). of course he had a knock so wasnt up to speed but you could see he still has it. but for a brief second of mis control he would have scored earlier than the penalty

I thought his link play was better than his instinct in front of goal and I admit to being nervous with the penalty especially as I was thinking about the one he took for Man City when they lost an european place but he calmly put it away a la Robbie

I am convinced he will click into place and get us goals this season and the too old past it remarks seem to follow him around but he is something that is rare these days a totally natural goalscorer, hasnt a clue how he does it just scores,  how many of them are about in the premiership

Where I was standing the only thing being shouted was get Kromkamp off. Fowler is a legend & the true Liverpool supporters know that he still has the vitamins. Our problem yesterday wasnt the front two, it was the midfield.

fowler looked nothing like what he is... okay ! he had a sucky performance and if it was because of his long lay-off, he never should have been out there yest. in the first place.... never blamed him for our display... Rafa's bad and im stickin to that ! wanna get a player back to full fitness ? im no genius or nothing but i'd think you'd keep him on the bench and play him in as a sub. until he's back and ready to play... same with fowler... if he aint ready to play, keep him on the bench until he can go out there and score em like he does ! his performance yest. was one of the worst i'v seen in ages... again... Rafa's poor selection !

Agree he looked alittle off the pace yesterday but i can't remember seeing him look in this good shape for many a year. He's clearly worked his butt off this past off-season and if he can stay injury free i believe he has a BIG season in him.

Spot on mate, give him the service and the rest is history.

The exact problem was Zenden/Sissoko. Momo seemed to have a bit more license to get forward weirdly, but he isn't as effective doing that as he is when sitting in. Bolo isn't a central midfielder and never will be. Stevie took it upon himself occasionally to come in and bomb forward, but then that left space on their left for them to keep the ball and play a bit.

Not to mention we didn't half play the long ball from the back a lot, that has to stop, especially when Fowler/Bellamy play.

Bottom line, in my opinion, don't play those two in a central midfield pairing. It just doesn't work...
