Police find football memorabilia

Burglars struck while Crouch was playing in a European match
Football memorabilia has been recovered by police investigating burglaries at the homes of several Liverpool Football Club players.
The homes of Peter Crouch, new Danish defender Daniel Agger, goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek and on-loan striker Sinama Pongolle were targeted.

Four men in their early 20s were arrested when police search a house in the Tuebrook area on Tuesday night.

They are to be questioned on three separate burglary related charges.

Crouch's mansion in Alderley Edge, Cheshire, was burgled last Wednesday while he was playing in a European Champions' League match against Galatasary at Anfield.

Ongoing investigation

England and Liverpool football shirts, other memorabilia and a quantity of hi-fi equipment was found by officers on Wednesday.

The arrests were made as part of an ongoing investigation with Cheshire Police and Liverpool Football Club.

The four men were to be questioned by detectives on Wednesday on conspiracy to commit burglary, suspicion of burglary and handling stolen goods.

Det Sgt Peter Cain said: "This has been the result of hard work and persistence in partnership with our colleagues in Cheshire and while working closely with Liverpool FC.

"I would like to remind the public that handling stolen goods is a crime and one that Merseyside Police takes very seriously."
