seems at the moment calling supporters fickle for having an opinion is the new black, seems its in vogue. anyway fickle means

Pronunciation: 'fi-k&l
Function: adjective
Etymology: Middle English fikel deceitful, inconstant, from Old English ficol deceitful; akin to Old English befician to deceive, and probably to Old English fAh hostile -- more at FOE
: marked by lack of steadfastness, constancy, or stability : given to erratic changeableness

anyway the fickle we are being called is this one : marked by lack of steadfastness, constancy, or stability : given to erratic changeableness

none of us are changing our allegiences, we are all red till dead and that will never change, however having an opinion is not being fickle. chopping and changing the team just for the sake of it is surely being fickle, lack of steadfastness, lack of constancy, lack of stability, given to eratic changeableness.

is rafa not showing all the signs of being fickle?

part of being a supporter is being able to discuss differences of opinion, just look at the threads where people select different teams, is that being fickle? no it isnt, its a difference of opinion.

someone saying drop reina, is it being fickle? no its a difference of opinion.

someone saying we wont win the league, is it fickle? no its a difference of opinion

just because some of us do not blindly accept everything or look for excuses does not make us fickle, it means we have a different opinion.

its getting boring now guys

But you need to support the players mate.

It's a case of most of thise calling for Rafa to drop Reina are the same ones who were calling him the best 'keeper in the league a few weeks back.

That, I think you will find, is a direct example of someone being "fickle."

lando, we do support the players.

are you saying that you support diao?  you must have supported him at some time.

what about last season when you realised we would not win the league, was that being fickle?

its having an opinion mate, its not being fickle, and mostly its not eratic, there is good reason for people to questions things mate, its called one point from 12 away from home, its called mistakes from the keeper, its called changing the defence, its called playing gerrard on the left.

its not being fickle, of course we still support the players, but we dont just support them blindly an accept it when they let us down

The thing is, though - everyone makes mistakes. Every member of our squad has made a monumental c*ckup at some point in their career.

Reina's are highlighted because of the position he plays.

A good keeper doesn't lose his ability because of an error. He loses confidence.

Back the player, rather than calling for him to be dropped, and you'll see the confidence return a damn site quicker.

All this call for Dudek is stupid - he's the biggest liability we've had since James. (All because some fans and GH barracked him for a couple of errors - something Rafa rightly refuses to do with Reina.)

Once the seed of doubt is sewn, it's a long road back.

Let's make that journey a little easier for our Pepe, eh?

its not just about pepe mate, but lets be honest the people slating dudek would gladly have felched him after the champions league final so are we saying they are fickle or have just changed their opinion?

of course all players make mistakes, look at gerrard passing to henry. when we criticise that pass with the current trend to use the word fickle then we will be called fickle.

its not fickle, its having a different opinion to others. its ok to say we are great one week, but its also ok to say we are a crock of :censored: the next week if the performance warrants that,

thats the joy of having an opinion mate, it doesnt for one minute mean our support of the club, the manager or the players are any less. it just means we are more prepared to say what we feel

That's not what I am implying mate.

I am simply saying that the fickle ones are those who say "so and so is a f*cking brilliant player" after a win, then "They are sh*t and need to be dropped" after a defeat.

Surely you can understand why that would p*ss me off? It's the very definition of fickle.

I'm not saying you yourself have done that - just that some on here have.

It's a joke that people can contradict themselves in such a manner so freely.

ok, that is fickle. but i have been called fickle for having a different opinion to others when i have not built someone up to knock them down the following week.

saying our results are poor away from home is not fickle, its fact, its staing an opinion but then some people (who maybe doesnt know the meaning of the word fickle) starts calling me fickle so you can see why that p1sses me off

Its all just opinion at the end of the day. Today I think Kuyt is going to be a star player for us, if he doesnt score for a few weeks and plays badly, I will start to have doubts, if he doesnt score and play well all season my opinion will change and I will be saying hes cr@p and we should sell him.

Thats not being fickle, thats trying to have a reasoned opinion based on how I think they have performed over a period of time. Some people need less time to reach their conclusions than others, that doesnt mean they are fickle, because they may just be better at reaching a judgement than others.

Opinions change with time and circumstance, being fickle means changing your opinion for no reason or on a whim.

You will all have changed your minds by now anyway - Fickle b@stards :D

Certainly can.

I never even used the damn word!!!! :D

What you say is fact - our away results are bad, even when you consider the opposition.

It's not you who p*sses me off peewee - it's the dickheads who state mutually exclusive points of view less than 1 week apart.

Fickle shmickle , who give's a sh't . Changing your opinion on any issue for a valid reason is not being fickle . I was dead set against us signing Crouch , now I think he's a very important member of our squad , the fella with his performances for LFC proved my initial assesment of him to be wrong and I was happy to revise my opinion of him .Does that make me fickle ? maybe it does , do I care ? No .
