Improvements - What improvements could be made to lfc

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Billy_5_Times » Wed Aug 02, 2006 4:37 pm

Looking at the side and the club itself what improvements could be made that would get us as close to the 70s and 80s.

A new stadium?
New players?
A new Board?

What do you think?

If you want to recapture the form of the '70's and '80's, then we'd need to change most of our squad.

If you want success 2000's-style, then a quality striker will go a long way to bringing it.

We need a new Robbie Fowler, simple as that. If the old lad can show even glimpses of his younger form, we'll be laughing.

Rafa is after Kuyt - that'll do me, as we'd have 4 completely different options, all capable of finding the net.

I'd still like to see David Villa here, but it won't happen anytime soon.

As long as our new signings gel immediately, the rest of the team maintain their form from the 2nd-half of last season, and we steer clear of bad injuries, then NO-ONE will stop us getting number 19. Not Sh*tski, not the Scum, and not the Gooooooooners.

I just hope Pennant and Gonzalez fulfil their potential, and we get another top-drawer striker in.

I think we have 4 people who are all different finding the net. Fowler enough said.
Couch's arieral threat.
Bellamy's pace.
And the surprise one, Pongolle. Given a chance I think he will be a success. His trickery is different to anything else we have, because he has pace to go with it, and the ability to score.

Trouble is, it seems Rafa doesn't fancy him to be a part of our team.

I like the lad. I just don't see him playiong for us for much longer.

Apart from strengthening the squad, I think we need to improve the commercial side. We are currently one of the most popular and well known teams and have a world wide fan base. We need to start looking at ways in which we can cash in on our recent success and the popularity this has engendered.
We also need a new stadium if we are to compete financially with other top clubs.I know that a new stadium would be unpopular with many supporters but it is the only way we will ever generate sufficient funds to achieve consistent success comparable with the 70's and 80's.
I think David Moores has done an excellent job has chairman and would like him to continue. Rick Parry has a lot to prove in my opinion. If we get the funds for the new stadium I would be happy for him to continue, if not surely he must go.
A "sugar daddy" would be nice!  Someone willing to invest millions without wanting us to sell our souls in return. Unfortunately there doesnt seem to be many about at the moment.
For all our problems generating the money our club deserves and needs, I feel we are getting it right were it counts the most, on the field, Rafa is exceeding everyones expectations and is creating a team that WILL challenge for honours consistantly. Perhaps to consistantly win those epl titles he may need the additional help of some stronger financial backing.
The liverpool teams of the 70's and 80's often contained the most expensive players in England. Our Record signing currently (Cisse) £14million is less than half the price of Mancs or Chelsea's most expensive player. Get Rafa the money and he will do the rest.
I think the team should all grow mustaches and get their hair permed as well :D

I think you need to have your ability to start new topics revoked. I don't know about the club, but it'd improve this forum considerably.  :D

I would say..........

new cubicles in the mens toilets.
(I have nearly drowned in the urine at matches)

A bowling alley inside anfield.

more variety of food at the kiosks, and not those rubbery hot dogs you get.

a complete off licence, and not just carlsberg.

heated seats in the stands.

free helicopter out of anfield to ease congestion.

1billion pounds Rafa spends.

Limo entrance for every fan.

A TIME MACHINE TO TAKE YOU BACK TO THE 70'S & 80'S.  :D

I seriously think that the business side of LFC really does need to be looked at properly. The LFC business just isn't exploiting it's whole potential IMO and that is coming from somebody who hasn't got much sense never mind business sense!  :D  You just have to look at what other major clubs around europe & the world are doing or have done.
The Mancs, cheatski, los crapticos and Barca all have their own TV channels (and on a proper TV platform and not just the 'net).
The mancs used to have a partnership with All-sports that mean't there was a very basic club shop in all of their branches across the UK meaning they could reach more tourists and fans wherever they where in the country.
I don't know if we've got one but i have heard that again the mancs plus the likes of madrid, barcelona and a couple of the italian clubs have got retail outlets in the far-east and the US.
I also think that when it comes to bringing in sponsorship deals and other lucrative contracts we leave a lot to be desired. We hear about cheatski signing massive sponsorship deals, the mancs getting massive deals with companies that can't even afford a proper logo, arseholenal getting big lucrative deals for their shirt and stadium sponsorship. Which brings us to our stadium debacle which could give the Wembley fiasco a run for it's money at the current rate. I'd like to see the board come clean and put their cards on the table about the stadium as I really do believe this is one improvement that we must have.

So a better business sense at the club would help to deliver the money that Rafa can use to bring in the players that he believes can deliver the championship.

If we're looking for improvements that could be made,

I'd like to see a commercial televisidion channel for the club like the scum and chelski have.  I don't see any reason why the most successful club in the land should'nt be able to have the same service as those other two clubs have.

I know i'd definatly subscribe to a channel that showed non-stop liverpool footage, past games, player interviews, training from Melwood etc.

What do you think ?

We need:

1- Better players to add to the squad obviously.

2- A new 60,000 seat stadium, with the capability to be extended if need be.

3- More tours into the United States and Asia, to expand the fanbase.

4- A Liverpool FCTV channel.

5- Expansion of commercial projects, such as endorsements, merchandising etc....
