Madrid sign emerson & cannavaro... - The juve clearout has begun.

International Football/Football World Wide - General Discussion

Real Madrid have announced the signing of Italy World Cup-winning captain Fabio Cannavaro and Brazil midfielder Emerson from Juventus.
The pair, who have signed a two-year deal with a further one-year option, will link up with their former Juve boss Fabio Capello at the Bernabeu.

Spanish radio said the deal was worth a combined 20 million Euros (£13.7m)

Juventus were relegated from Serie A last week after the match-fixing scandal which rocked Italian football.

They will start the 2006/07 campaign in Serie B with a 30-point deficit.

Real are looking to rebuild after three years without a trophy and the pair are the first arrivals at Madrid since new president Ramon Calderon came to power earlier this month.

A statement on the club's website said: "Real Madrid can confirm it has reached an agreement with Juventus over the signing of Fabio Cannavaro and Emerson.

"The players are currently on holiday and will be presented at the Bernabeu after signing their respective contracts."

They're gonna find it impossible to get back up for at least 2 seasons at this rate.

Add to that list: Adrian Mutu, Manuele Blasi and most probably Cristiano Zanetti, Robert Kovac, David Trezeguet, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Patrick Vieira and Mauro German Camoranesi and you'll understand why my heart is crushed

He was good 2 years ago, but he barely played last year, and hasnt scored (on a football field) since the world cup qualifier groups in 2005.
Next year, he'll probably just be a backup in case of compulsive injuries from Bojinov/Del Piero/Palladino/Volpato/Sculli/Chiumiento and perhaps Guzman too :D

The sales continue

Barcelona have tied up the dual signing of Juventus defenders Lilian Thuram and Gianluca Zambrotta.

Following Juventus' relegation from Serie A, the scandal-hit Italian giants have seen their squad become a target for Europe's top clubs.

Real Madrid have already raided Stadio Delle Alpi for Fabio Cannavaro and Emerson, with Thuram and Zambrotta being the next to leave.

Reports suggest the Spanish champions have agreed to pay a combined fee of £13 million for the experienced stoppers.

Thuram, 34, has signed a two-year contract at Camp Nou and leaves Juventus after five years with the club.

He had been linked with Premiership duo Arsenal and Tottenham, but has opted to continue his career with Frank Rijkaard's side.

Zambrotta has clinched a four-year deal with the UEFA Champions League holders following seven seasons in Turin.

The full back, who can play on either flank, heads to Catalunya after winning the World Cup with Italy, who overcame Thuram's France in the final.

With four big names having already left Juventus, the club will now try to fend off interest in the likes of Patrick Vieira and David Trezeguet.

We got 45 mio € for Emerson-Cannavaro-Thuram-Zambrotta

Milan got 63 mio for Shevchenko and could get 58 mio for Kakà

The Juventus board is very criticized already, and my mood is in the abyss

Adrian Mutu is the most expensive player in the world.

Because he's worth about $40 million.

$4 million for the player and $36 million to buy his cocaine supply.
