Bit strange to see him get straight off after bringing them up.

Fabio Capello must surely be a option for Juventus.

He left after the chairman told him that the Juve would have a limited budget for their first season back in Serie A.

Not a budget for players, but a budget for bribing refs.

Didier Deschamps' future as Juventus coach is unclear after they had to deny television reports he had resigned.

Deschamps took charge of Saturday's game against Mantova but afterwards general manager Jean-Claude Blanc refused to deny he had verbally quit.

"There has been no announcement to the club and there is no official position on the part of the club," he said.

"In the next few hours we want to clear everything up. We will talk and make the right decision for the future."

Deschamps, who won the Champions League with Juventus as a player in 1996, took charge of the Turin side last summer following their demotion for Serie B for their involvement in a match-fixing scandal.

They began the season with a nine-point deduction, but he has guided them back to Serie A at the first time of asking.

The former France captain said he wanted to coach them in the top flight but there have been persistent rumours in Italy that he could be on his way out, with former Juventus and Italy coach Marcello Lippi one of those tipped to replace him.

Juventus have denied reports that coach Didier Deschamps has quit, but admit that discussions are ongoing with their French coach.

SKY Television in Italy reported late on Friday night that Deschamps was leaving the club he has just led to promotion in his first year in charge just a season after they were relegated for match-fixing.

Juve posted a statement on the website, insisting Deschamps was still in his job, but admitted that matters still needed to be clarified.

The statement on www.juventus.com read: "Juventus have been given no communication about the resignation of Didier Deschamps.

"Therefore the coach will be on the bench as normal for today's game with Mantova.

"Managing director Jean-Claude Blanc will continue conversations, which were already started during the week, to rapidly clarify the question with the interested party."

Deschamps, 38, has already been linked with the Lyon post vacated at the end of this season by Gerard Houllier

Now hes gone :;):

DESCHAMPS LEAVES JUVE

Didier Deschamps parted company with Juventus on Saturday night, just hours after leading the club to the Serie B title.

The former France captain watched from the sidelines as Juve beat Mantova 2-0 thanks to goals from David Trezeguet and Pavel Nedved, but later the same evening it was announced he would be leaving the Bianconeri.

A statement on the club website read: "Juventus Football Club and Didier Deschamps have mutually terminated their contractual relationship that gave them both satisfaction, enthusiasm and success.

"The coach and the club have recognised that the conditions necessary to continue their relationship with the same satisfaction are lacking, and therefore have decided to amicably separate."

Deschamps did not speak at the post-match conference following the Mantova clash, but managing director Jean-Claude Blanc admitted that the situation was coming to a head.

"There is no official position," said Blanc in remarks reported by www.gazzetta.it.

"Deschamps' resignation has never been formalised. We will continue to speak to him and we will take together a decision in the near future.

"I want a winning Juve that lives up to its past and we will take decisions on that basis - on a sporting as well as an economic basis."

Blanc admitted there were differences between the club and the coach who wanted more money to spend in the transfer market after steering Juve back to the top flight in his first season in charge just a year after the club was relegated for match-fixing.

It has already been speculated that Italy's World Cup-winning coach Marcello Lippi could be lured to Turin while Deschamps is reported to be a target of Lyon, the Ligue 1 champions whose own boss Gerard Houllier took charge of his final game on Saturday.
