Morientes has nearly proven his worth, why don't Liverpool sell Pongolle, Le Tallec, Mellor and Cisse and than sign two more strikers making it Crouch, Morientes, Player x and player y?
Why should Nando go? Sure 8 goals is pants but if you are saying he's poor because of his goal return than yeah he is. If you look at his overall game than he is not. Simple as.
Focus on the bigger picture mate, I do and you see a lot more than the average footie manager fan.
Talking sh!te again, I see...
What is the bigger picture we're supposed to be looking for here? What does he bring to the team that our other strikers don't? It certainly isn't goals but you seem to want to focus attention elsewhere. That's fine...we cut Crouch slack on the goals front but he brings other elements to the team that have been pointed out on this forum over and over again. So just what has Nando done to justify seeing out the rest of his contract? Do enlighten us "footie manager fans" with your unparalleled footballing acumen!
He brings what Crouch brings to the team but is better at it simple as. And how theam I talking
, it's my opinion if you don't like it
off.

I don't blame Benitez because most sides would have fancied Morientes after his CL run with Monaco, nor do I blame Morientes because the guy clearly tries his best every time he pulls on the shirt - we just have to accept that for various reasons it hasn't worked out and we need to replace him.
He rarely even looks like scoring in most games, let alone actually score, it's just not working out for him here. And I can't see it changing, his confidence is completely shot and only a change of clubs and a change of leagues will rectify that imo. I also agree that it is a very different situation from Crouch - when he was having a barren run in front of goal his link up play and ability to hold the ball in the final 3rd still justified his selection. But Morientes doesn't even offer that. At the moment even Cisse, who is far from good enough for us, is a bigger goal threat than Nando and I'm glad he started the final ahead of Morientes.

Spot on...
I've said the same thing to Sabre in the past and still hold to it. I was made up when we signed Nando and just kept waiting for things to click and him to start banging in goals, setting up teammates and generally causing opponents' problems. He showed it in fits and starts last season, sure, but it never really came together. Roll on the summer and I was sure a pre-season with the team would set him right. Nope. He didn't even make an impact in Europe, where he should have had much less trouble. I can't point to any one moment where I lost faith in the lad...it just happened. At some point it just became clear that he had very little to offer the team and needed to be sat down.
He's not past it, IMO, he just doesn't quite do the business for Liverpool. A return to Spain will do him a world of good and I expect that he'd enjoy a wonderful twilight to his career at a team like Depor or Sevilla. As for us, we need more potency up front and cannot afford to carry Nando as a passenger any longer. I for one, hope he's sold this summer.

i dont think rafa will sell him.
i sense rafa`s pretty close to nando and see`s him as one of his trusted leutenants and someone he can confide in.
nando`s made it pretty clear that he doesnt want to leave liverpool and thats after only playing sporadically so obviously playing every weeks not a big issue to him.
the pellegrino situation was a bit different because although he was close to rafa on a personal basis his contract had ran out where as nando`s still under contract.
i have nothing to back this view up really but i just sense he`ll still be here.

What ever am I going to do, I'm not being taken seriously by a bunch ofwho are on an Internet forum. My life is finished as I know it.
Morientes brings a lot to the team, fact! The only reason most Liverpool fans including Mr Alan "I know everything & I'm an ignorantHansen Jnr (Bad Bob) give Morientes stick is for his lack of goals.
I'd love him to stay but with the worst set of fans in the World he owes it to himself to go back to Spain, join a Spanish team and then knock Liverpool out of the Champions League.
Then we'll see how good Crouch is, Crouch is a good player but he isn't as good as Morientes is, fact!
