Drogba hurts us again - Not what you think

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I watched manure against Chelsh1t today and frankly United should have lost at least 5-0 but due to drogba's poor finishing it was not. We actually gained five goals in the goal diff  and I feel that it will be down to goal diff between us and United for second spot.

Portsmouth have survived so an easy win for us there, but united have to play Boro (a team they do not normally play well against) and then Charlton. I think they will lose to boro but beat Charlton.

If United lose by a goal to Boro, the Goal Diff will be three extra in Uniteds favour ( and they have scored more which is the tie breaker so we must beat them in Goal Diff rather than match them) with one game each to play.

In all cases we need about seven against Portsmouth (it could happen) and United to lose to Boro. Hope we play a 4-2-4.  :buttrock

They'll demolish Charlton and I still think Portsmouth will be a toughy. But it can be done.

The fact is that if United lose to Boro (which may well happen) it will be down to Goal Diff for the last game. We will play a team that has nothing to play for and a great manager. Why can't we score seven against Portsmouth. I personally will be excited to see a team that is set out to score seven or so goals.

I think we can do it.

Not so sure. Portsmouth have survived (they will probably play the reserves) and Charlton will be saying goodbye to a manager they have had for fifteen years so they will be up for it.

It starts with boro!

Yeah, I see what your saying, but look at it from the other side. Harry Redknapp doesn't know how to play a reserve team and will be going for it. Portsmouth have been struggling and fighting for the whole season, and sometimes, when they are relieved of their pressures, a team like this start playing their best football. I still think we'll beat them, but don't expect a walk over.

Boro are an enigma. Any team that can whoop Chelsea 3-0 and Man Utd 4-1 and STILL be languishing in and around 15th makes it impossible to predict their mood on the day. Who knows...

Charlton are Man Utd's b1tches and get smashed by them fairly often. One of my mates is an Addick and he's dreading it. Just to tell you how rare it is that they get an amazing result, my mate has two mugs, one displaying a win against Man Utd and the other is a DRAW (!!!) against Arsenal! Even with it being Curbishly's final bow, I can't see them standing up to Horseface and co.

It'll be interesting whatever happens and at this stage of the season I'll be delighted with 3rd, but I'd be delighted with 2nd. And next year, Champions.

it all boils down to the game against boro... if they lose, regardless of the score, then the momentum will be with us... if they win, then i guess it's all over for us...

but look at the circumstances surrounding the match..boro have got nothing more to achieve in the league... they can't be relegated...nor can they achieve a euro spot...only thing is their UEFA Cup final... think they will field their strongest team against Manure and risk injuries? Or even if they do, will the players be strongly motivated? But I hope professional pride is enough to make them want to screw Manure... though if they play the same team that got trashed 7-0 by Arsenal earlier... than curtains for us..

I reckon Man U will fall over. They have lost one the best strikers, they got humiliated by chelsea and reckon they'll just give up.
But in saying this, Man U are not some cheap sh*tty team that give up after one lose   and what would i know

Lets not get over the moon here.....The main target is the FA cup. We should ensure that we do not pick up silly bookings or injuries 1st.

Personally i don't care about 2nd spot. If we win the FA cup, we will have a better season than the scums for the 2nd season running.....

With Rooney out, Saha and van Nistlerooy aren't exactly a match made in heaven, so I think Charlton do have a decet chance.

I think it will take a miracle for us to finish 2nd.

The Scum are adept at pulling results from nowhere, as much as it pains me to say it.

Okay so to finish second, we have to win regardless, while Manure can obviously lose all or win 1 and lose 1 at the most (this will bring us to goal difference). In my opinion, the most likeliest possibility of us grabbing 2nd spot is when Manure draws to both Boro and Charlton (them to lose once out of twice at Old Trafford?) while we obviously beat Portsmouth. I feel we have a good chance seeing that Man U is up against Boro on Monday and that fat Rooney is injrued. Of course, if Man U does win Boro on Monday, we would have to go for broke against Portsmouth and try equalling out the goal difference SHOULD Man U lose against Charlton. We have to score at least 5 goals (depending on how much Man U beat Boro by).

Manure will be well up for all their games.  Their supporters will not want to lose second place to us.  I reckon Portsmouth will be well up for it as well to prove a point.

Its a big ask but all we can do is just go for it against Portsmouth and that might be a great game.
