Pace is all he gives us and what use is it if he is of side???
he must have gone to the anelka school of looking down the line and timing runs,
we would be better of with a youngster out of the reserves who will try and make a go of it

You must be watching a different player to me mate. His control and general footballing awareness makes Milan Baros look like Thierry Henry. He doesn't even understand the offside rule ffs.

Theo@home wrote:Seriously, the amount of exageration, outright bull$hit and total cr@p that gets spouted on here is amazing sometimes. The long and the short of it is, Cisse can control a ball at least as well as Nando and Crouch and he did not go to Highbury due to his family's new arrival -Cassius (wtf?). He's no worse than Morientes and Crouch at the moment and 4 or 5 starts up front will either see him prove everybody wrong or allow us to offload him in the close season knowing he had every chance to shine but failed to make it. If we dont give him a run, there'll be people on hear for the next two years saying 'ah, but he was always played out of position' and 'he never got a good run in the team' etc. etc.

He is better than Morientes by far, and to be honest that's ( clause ) the only good excuse there is for not playing him.
stmichael wrote:No i don't have it in for him. This subject comes up every couple of months, he gets his chance, f#cks up countless chances, and is pushed out to the right again. Some people have short memories. Remember Villa away when people were crying for him to be "given a chance" - he was, and look what happened.
I agree that it can't be worse than having Morientes upfront at the moment but lets have some perspective, Cisse is a very very average forward who is just quick. Ok so lets buy Maurice Green then if all you need is pace?

I agree to extent that I would like Cisse to be given a chance as nobody else is doing it at the moment BUT there appears to be no place for him in the long term. At the end of the day, Morientes may well 'control it on the edge of the box and pass it back' but he is keeping possesion on the edge of the opposition box.
Cisse offers nothing in that situation apart from a rush of blood to the head and squandering possession, if he offers himself at all in that situation. I wish he could just be more consistent and offer to help rather than demand chances/perfect passes on a plate which he isn't gonna get to often. He doesn't 'win the ball' like Crouch does or even try.
He has all the natural attributes but doesn't make the most of them by running himself into the ground for the cause. In many ways, he would have been perfect for Houllier's over the top, play in own half, negative, type of game.

And that alone in my opinion makes him a much bigger treat than Crouch or Nando. Players with great footballing minds can have impact without pace. i.e Bergkamp, and Sheringham.
However Crouch has no brain and the only thing he knows how to do is run towards his own goal. His like Bambi on ice.
Morientes was a very clever player who although wasnt super quick had more pace than he does now. He looks nothing like the player of 3 years ago. I would rather defend againt 2 players who cant run and cant score than against Cisse.
