Someone on another forum who has inside info on the club has said, the reason Cisse doesnt hardley play is that if he makes another 3 appearences starting 11 or sub doesnt matter.
It triggers a clause in his contract that we have to pay Auxerre a dirtybig sum of money that would see Cisse earning more than he already is.
So maybe he did not cost 14 million maybe that was the price based on appearences same as Rooney and Walcott?

Makes the situation more understandable now why he doesnt play that often and Rafa is right in not choosing him if this is the case, as we didnt have the benefit of him for nearly a season due to injury.

So if this is true in my eyes you cant blame the club for not wanting to give a penny more him TBH.

Please say it's true.

Perhaps we won't lose too much if we manage to chuff him away next transfer window?

I wonder if we could stick him on loan somewhere to bolster his sale price and get rid of some of his wages.

Then this would trigger the appearence clause so what would be the piont in that?
If he plays 3 more times for us, than we have to pay Auxerre money.
They ripped us off in the first place they are not getting any more money for him no chance.
As I say I dunno how true it is, but it will be interesting to see now with 9 games left (F.A.Cup games excluded) how many times we actually see him?

All that cissé bashing is just unfair and based on a true fact (he doesn t score enough) but a wrong analysis.
I am a true supporter (french though) of Liverpool but i have to say that Benitez has just destroyed the man (as his broken leg was not enough).
Some of you guys around have said that you can t organise your game just for him. It wasn t about that : it was just to let a striker play as ... a striker. alone or with another forward, no matter. HE IS NOT A WINGER ! Having said that he never had a chance to prove himself as a finisher, he failed to be lionel messi on the right wing. big surprise !
Cisse confidence is down and this season has jeopardized his chances to make it at the world cup. That s another thing : Benitez just ruined the third choice striker for the national team. That s ok as Anleka and Saha are playing very well but i think of the man and the player i used to watch when he was playing in France. i agree with most of the supporters here : he has to leave liverpool, but not for same reasons.

Before breaking his leg, he was playing up front, and did not look like the great striker all had him lapped up to be. He might be good for a French team, he is not going to benefit being on the bench. But if the clause as stated above is true, then Rafa has every right not to play him, because we have wasted a lot of money on him in the first place. Imagine having to fork out more for a player that sulks and beats his wife. :no

Leave the insults out about his wife hey Stinger, but I do think had he not have broken his leg and Owen and Houllier where still at the club, he would have flourished he would have got 20 goals a season IMO because of the way we played under Houllier.
But the way things panned out it was not meant to be he will flourish at a club abroad maybe back in France?
But one things for sure he wont be a Liverpool player next season.

If our financial situation is so dire that we are willing to jeopordise results on the pitch to save a few bob it's sorry day indeed. If the piggy bank is that empty Rafa will walk for sure. That's why IMO it's all bollox.

I was rapted for the lad when he came back from his broken leg however he wasnt exactly setting the earth on fire before that horrible incident at Blackburn
A lot of us were using well worn and normally true clause " he has to get used to EPL etc" at that time
This season he hasnt done himself any favours with his attitude and went from hero to zero in a very short time.
Considering after his miracle comeback and performance late in the seasons meant there was howls of outrage at thought of selling him to try and finance a Owen return at start of season

so Rafa should have let him go during the last transfer window. And i disagree that he had the chance to prove himself in the first place. He didn t play that much up front.
Trying to compare with the french league is irrelevant and even wrong : except chelsea, arsenal, manu and liverpool, the level is the same (exception with Lyon). It is a problem of adaptation : remember the mutu, veron, morientes etc etc.

Anyway, with the way rafa make his players play, even Shevshenko would be short of goals.
All i say is : what a big waste of money, talent and team spirit.
I don t get the point of the money anyway : it s about punishing him for not suiting rafa plans or not being good enough ? if he s that bad let him go or let him play. having him on the bench will just depreciate his value.

Rafa isn't going to let him go for peanuts, I think someone will get him for around £7m-8m but if we wait until the summer he will hopefully have a good world cup and bump his price up.

Great points. I remember seeing Cisse at Axuerre and I was real pleased that we manged to sign him. I saw someone with pace, power and the ability to score all kinds of goals. Now I dont think people should look at the time before he broke his leg as a becnhmark. Its not often players from Europe come in and hit it off straight away. You have to give them some time. Anyway the leg brake really come at the wrong time as to me it looked like Cisse was getting to the pace of the English Game. This season was like Cisse starting again and in pre-season and in the CL qualifiers he looked real sharp and things were looking good. Then came all the Owen speculation and Cisse seeing the club were trying to ship him out behind his back. He then comes on as sub in a dreadful performance in the Super Cup and wins us the game. Rafa is asked after the game about Cisse and the manager says "Maybe we will get more offers now". What this would of done to Cisse's confidence who knows? Not being backed by the Manager cannot be good for any players confidence.

During the season Cisse has then played some games as a striker, more as a winger and not started many games. Trying to find any form or consistency has virtually been impossible and he probably now miss out on a World Cup Place.

Why Rafa didnt tell him in Jan the situation and allow him to go on loan is bemusing. I really dont see why Rafa kept a Player he has no intention to use as a striker unless injuries or suspensions make him. For Cisse's career he will need to move in the Summer however for his sake I wouldnt let Liverpool dictate the move. Cisse should only go to a club he wants to play for and not the 1st club LFC accept a bid from.

France will not pick him as he isnt playing. Saha will go instead.
