I am sure if Sissoko went down the way smith went down at Old Trafford maybe 10 people would have clapped him off, so :censored:

to that, its sad but its not a shock. Sissoko is tough as nails, any injury outside of the eye he will recover quickly, but vision is something no one except the optometrist can have any control over. I figure he will be out for the rest of the season. Maybe be back for the last couple games.

I've read that Sissoko will never get his eyesight 100% back. This could mean a quick end to a promising career. What a shame. Our most talented player could be forced into retirement. Suppose people like Stu who wanted Sissoko to f@ck off from the team got their will.

we don't know this for certain yet.....so lets not jump the gun just yet and start writing him off just yet!

Don't motherf@cking shoot the messenger. I've seen interviews from the portuguese medical expert saying his vision will never fully recover. He could get as little as 20% of a fully working eye sight. Then he would be virtually blind on one eye. Best case he will get back 60-80%. That is still pretty bad. Now f@ck off.

Well if that's true its awful. Momo is a fantastic player who always gives 110%. Rather than argue amoung ourselves, surely we should be talking about the footballer who may never play again than trying to score a few cheap points.

That's utter b*llocks. Frank Bruno had a detached retina as a result of his first fight with Mike Tyson, and he boxed on for well over a decade after he'd recovered from operations on it. I know that boxing isn't the most moral of sports, but The British Board Of Boxing Control wouldn't have let the guy fight if he was only partially sighted.

Not sure if it's a tear or a detachment that Sissoko has suffered, but from what I understand, retinal injuries are treatable, and the success rates are good. Check out the following links...

Continue to post without identifying the source of your info and you'll always be in my sights mate. Sorry - there's too much cr@p posted by to$$ers who just want to sensationalise and provoke for me to want it any other way.

As a poster with 900+ posts under his belt surely you should understand and appreciate that.

I'm affraid to say that Banana is right. I also read it from a portuguese TV website. It says that he has serious retina damages and best prognostic is that he can recover 20% of his vision from that eye with total perspective vision lost... It also says that his career is in risk... Do you want me to put here the source (portuguese language)?

I hope this is just bad journalism but I'm affraid not, they're a credible TV channel and I'm sure they got this information in the hospital here in Lisbon. I don't even want to think if that turns to be the final veredict...

please forgive me for my ignorance, but how is the medical care in lisbon?? i realize its a modern city but it isn't new york or london-- in all of these injuries fast efficient care is paramount -- just hope they can stabalise him and get him home
