We have seen enough of moro

Before garcia scoring, the stats showed: corner 13:0, goal attempts: 20:6. Our defense was doing very well, not to mention our mids. This was one of the more decent displays this season. But we have seen enough of Fernando Morientes. I think it's time to ship him at the very first chance. I think it's pretty fair to claim that he's probably the worst main striker ever wearing red.

I've had my rows with Bigmick over Moro and I've always stood up for him in the past but no defending him now.

He's been fit for most of the season, playing in a side doing really well, winning games and setting up a hatful of chances.

No excuses for not scoring regularly.  :no

Anfieldadorer, I woke up at 3:50 am to catch this game live in my parts of the world, as I did for the Charlton game. Imagine then, my frustrations with Nando for the past few weeks, especially.

Today was the final straw. He did absolutely nothing of merit, except winning a dubious penalty. It is poetic justice that Gerrard missed because he was miles away from reaching the ball and being a "threat" to the Arsenal goal despote being shoved by the Arsenal defender.

There was no pace, no decent first touch, none of that famed "heading ability" despite getting a couple of good heading chances, little link-up play just the normal laying off the ball to a nearby colleague and more importantly, no finishing at all when all that's needed is a decent touch to score.

His partner Fowler did excellent and even set him up which he then proceeded to do his now ritual miss. Why did Rafa not take Nando off instead of Fowler?

Sorry, Fernando Morrientes, you may have been known as a world class forward in the past, but it is very clear that you just can't cut it in the EPL.

Sell him at the earliest opportunity, Rafael Benitez, like you did for the other flops. Goodbye, Morrientes, I had put up with you for far too long because I wanted to believe that you can deliver your touted "workd class abilities" and because I love LFC but you have really wasted all the faith shown to you by your poor performances.

Agreed -doesnt even look like scoring, doesnt even look hungry , no passion or pride, just there for the ride. Be glad to see the back of him.

Lay off the lad, Rafa obviously sees that he has something to offer in much the same the same way he kept faith with Kewell. Don't know what Nando's problem is, but he won't be going anywhere before the end of the season, and slating him won't do much to spur him on

It's crazy isn't it...I mean the guy has been very successful in the past. He was banging goals in for fun at Monaco against the top sides in Europe and he scored regularly for Real Madrid when he did come on as a sub......I just looked it up...he has 150 career golas in 405 appearances....well that isn't awful is it......for us he has 9 goals in 45 games.....for a striker in a European Cup winning squad that is not good enough. I agree...it is time to say our goodbyes to Fernando.

Kewell was gradually phased into the team before being played as a starter who also finished games. Morrientes has been given much more leeway interms of playing time and starts than Kewell, and today was a perfect illustration of Rafa's faith in him, being left on the pitch for the whole duration of the match when he has been completely wasteful and ineffective.

I don't think we have been overly harsh on Nando, whatever criticism he is receiving in this thread is self-inflicted. Get a perspective and get a grip.

Agreed that Moro isn't doing much to make the record keepers at anfield very busy and I myself have started to lose my wrag with him after being a staunch supporter of his. However i think describing him as the worst striker to wear the shirt as a bit too far - have you forgotten such LEGENDS as Sean Dundee and Eric Meijer both Liverpool greats :p ???

The guy is clearly talented, you cannot score goals like he has at the level he has without having ability but for whatever reason he has just not performed. When we signed him I was so chuffed, he is brilliant in the air, good hold up play and a two pretty good feet. he was a strong player too and on paper was just made to play in the premiership...which is why it is so hard to figure out why he hasn't performed...is he home sick? confidence shot to bits after inury? I dunno. The Kewell comparison is a good one, he is another one who just persistantly under performed and not one person on here can say they didn't want to see him go....but Rafa stuck with him, obviously saw things in training and now look, he is getting close to the standard of play he showed us at Leeds....MAYBE it will be the same with Nando....only thing is he ha 20 games at very very most to show us his ability before the end of the season when he could be sold.

Moriente what a waste. He is making Sean Dundee and Eric Meijer look like superstars.

Ive had efuckin nuff if Im honest.
But they cant all of a sudden be all bad.
You cannot have a 14 million pound striker on the bench and bring him on with 10 minutes to go.......................
Morientes done me head in tonight I was screamin at him, he is not a journey man cause he took a wage cut to come to Liverpool.
But he is so dissapionting its unbelieveable, he makes me blood boil.
I call him for everything. throughout the game, which is unfair.
But Ive said in another topic the 4/5 forwards we have at the club cant all turn bad all of a sudden.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

I really feel the need to join in the chorus. I think the Anfield faithful are a patient lot. Even with some of our worst buys we tend to give them additional time to prove they are worth what we paid. But the sands of time seem to have run out for Moro. How he fluffed the cross from Robbie today and totally miss the target I still cant seem to comrehend? It would have been easier to score! I wish it werent the case, but the jury is in, and the news is not good for Fernando. :(

Wether fans like nando or not is irelevent until the summer. We have four strikers at the club at the mo and, we will need to use all of them between now and the end of the season. Rafa will need all his forwards playing from now on. It's a strong possibilty we'll have alot more games to play if we keep our run going in both cup competitions. If we keep on winning imho, we should worry about the strikers come the summer.
