At least he is getting positions and having the chances to miss,I'd rather that then no chances.Surely he must score one sonner or later, hopefuly it could send the ball rollin for him

I was just thinking if we play with crouch up front on his own and get garica on the right supporting kewell on the left and gerrard the free role behind him and in front of sissoko and alonso this could work out better although it does have some flaws. Worth a try though a suppose

i don't believe ANY (except Crouch) of our strikers are good enough as a sole source for goals.  We need a huge clear out and hopefully Rafa will be able to bring in 3 new strikers.

I dunno... I still think he has a certain latent talent, and as we know with strikers, it's all about confidence and luck. He hasn't either at the mo... I do believe that deep down he really wants to do well for us, not least of all cos it's in his own self interest!! He's with us until the end of the season, let's put away the axes for a while! Maybe in Europe he'll come good!!

there isn't any doubt about Morientes being a very talented player....i just don't think he's suited to the Premiership.

Well, I haven't seen the whole match yet, but your reviews are good enough for me, and I've seen what his form has been  lately (I have seen last matches live or later downloading (I know, I'm a thief))

I have read all the posts, and  I must say that it's time to sit him on the bench, there's no need to talk about inmediate shipping, when you can sit down on the bench first and see what happens.

I have a theory on why our strikers score less goals than expected, and it has to do with how we play. Fowler and Crouch will hopefully prove me wrong (The more goals we score, the better) but I'm not so sure, they'll be good enough neither, if we keep doing what we've been doing lately.

Time to sit down: Yes, definitely. What to do with Morientes: Let's talk in summer.

About why Rafa considers always Morientes for the starting eleven, I have seen some theories from a very respected by me poster, talking about he must be his nephew. :) . Well, I must say that IMHO, coaches do not only select what players play according to how they perform on previous matches, but also, in how those players train through out the week.

It often happens that a player that is sharp and scoring in training sessions, then he doesn't respond in matches. I think it's a valid theory, at least as valid as the nephew one :)

Yawn :sleepy:

I'm reading the same things people where saying about Kewell only 2 or 3 months ago, NOW look.

Support our fu(king player, it's not like he wants to miss chances, unless you're a dumbass and think he really is doing his best to miss ???

He runs his socks off ever single game and has never shown a petulant attitude like Cissé, and he should be supported for that.

Until he came here to Liverpool he was an absolutely awesome player, his track record speaks for itself and more recently he was voted Champions League most valuable player in 2004, spear heading Monaco to the CL final, so clearly something very serious is up.

The worst thing you can do is get on his back, especially when it's clear he's having such a bad time.

It seems that mentally he is not right, and perhaps it would be best for him to go back to Spain, but in the meantime, SUPPORT him while he is here  all of your moaning will only make matters worse.

I couldn't STAND all of the moaning about Kewell, and this is just as bad.

Cant fault anything with his play today, he played magnificantly, rose to headers, got in good positions, built up play nicely, worked hard. He did everything everything well and would have been man of the match if he scored the 1/2 goals that he deserved. I dont understand it... How do we seem to only get strikers that over-perform elsewhere and fail to adapt in our system..........
I can see Rafa playing Morientes against Man U as to be fair to him, he looked more dangerous that Fowler, but Fowler will definately come on as a sub

TBH I cant see him staying in summer, and hopefully we can get a few million for him

Apparently, those things you mention, and that I've seen in other Moro's matches, do not count in a football game review:

Nando - 2/5 - Not impressed with him tonight/Missed a couple of sitters with his head and feet/Got into some alright positions but overall hes a slow maggot/Fly him back to spain

Yes very true Sabre, Espionage made some really excellent points.

I think if Morientes gets his mental frame right, he will bang in the goals.

He's doing everything else really well.

Morientes should have scored today but he still did ok. Today he ran into position and the only thing that lacked was a goal. I actually think that he and Fowler work pretty well together.
