Ive seen to much to be honest, and thats all im aying on the matter.

Big Fu*king letdown hes turned out to be, but then again none of the strikers have exactly covered themselves in glory this season so unfair to pick on one.

another curse?

And it was Owen's Gonna Get Ya, wasnt it?

Maybe you should change it to Nobody's Gona Get Ya (Nggy, not a racist slur, I can assure you), and the curse will be lifted,  :D

Apparently, those things you mention, and that I've seen in other Moro's matches, do not count in a football game review:

Nando - 2/5 - Not impressed with him tonight/Missed a couple of sitters with his head and feet/Got into some alright positions but overall hes a slow maggot/Fly him back to spain

???

Yes very true Sabre, Espionage made some really excellent points.

I think if Morientes gets his mental frame right, he will bang in the goals.

He's doing everything else really well.

If he continues to play like he did today, I would be happy having him in the starting 11 and let Fowler force his way in if he can....
In the review thread i gave him a 6.5 when i think that if one of those goals went in he would have got a 8.5.....
poor guy i really feel for him as you could see it in his face, he really wants to do well  :(

I somehow feel that bigmick will put us in our proper (always footballistically) place soon enough.

One of the best posts I've read here in the last month was the one about why Cisse doesn't follow basic football rules about where to place in order not to be in the vision line of the defender. Class post. More like that should be posted in order people learn.

If he manages to do an instructive post like that, that proves how Morientes is worse than Crouch or Fowler, I promise I won't fight for the Morientes camp in 2 months :)

Says a lot when you compare the Cissy and Mori.

One really really wants to do well for the team and club by getting into the right spots and banging the goals away, and you can see it in his face that he WANTS to achieve. Sacrificed his home life in Spain and moved his family out here, and stand by the decision, tries his guts out every single match.

While the other, has a scowl on his face every single time he puts on the shirt, complains on the pitch, throws his arms out in the air like there will never be another opportunity, sulks like a child, beats his wife, thinks he's the bees-knees, and yet, has nothing to show for it.

Amazing that we are doing so well with the striker problems we have. Credit to Rafa and the team for foraging on. Imagine if we had a 20+ goal striker on the pitch with our current team............ Chelski are running scared, they know the trophy is ours next season, and the season after and after and after.......

A quick look at the stats FWIW shows that we've had a staggering 191 saves made against us this season. By far the most of any team. Chelsea are 2nd on 151, Man U 3rd on 144 and believe it or not Sunderland 4th on 135!  Spurs and Arsenal are on 128 and 126 respectively. Charlton are bottom on 91.

No doubt about it, opposition keepers raise their game when they're playing us for some reason.

No doubt a lot of our headers and shots that make up this stat are tame but I can  recall a dozen or so top drawer saves that had they not been made would paint a totally different picture of our strikers ability and our conversion rate.

Full table:
Liverpool              191
Chelsea              151
Man Utd              144
Sunderland           135
Man City              133
Blackburn              132
Portsmouth           128
Tottenham            128
Arsenal              126
Everton              123
Wigan              122
Bolton              118
Newcastle            118
Birmingham           117
West Brom           114
West Ham            114
Aston Villa           111
Fulham             110
Middlesborough     94
Charlton              91

Theoracle, have you got some stats about the range of this shots? I mean I'd love to see a comparison with other teams for instance about how many long shots we try, and from where we try to score.

Who actually went to the match in this thread?

His best game for ages, he didn't play poorly at all yet the bashing threads start. After a bad performance by the lad understandable, but tonight he didn't play bad at all and gave 100%.

I am one of moro's biggest bashers here..... (in fact the biggest)... But lets give credit where its due. At least he is getting into the right positions. (even owen misses a lot of chances in his off days).

Can u say the same for cisse and even crouch ? Cisse has practically no brain whatsoever...and crouch does not have any killer instinct and neither any mobility whatsoever.

I say stick with morientes (we are stuck with him until the summer anyway). It is better to have a striker missing chances than one who does not even get at the end of chances created (cisse and crouch...yes, i am slating crouch.)

Intially i wanted a fowler & cisse strikeforce.... but i can see why rafa wanted to play morientes.

So lets just stick with fowler & moro strike force....it has to work (it will work). With garcia hopefully on the RW, he will create a lot of space for fowler & moro to exploit...

I think we should stick with Fowler - Nando partnership. Yes, nando still cant score but both Fowler and Nando played well together. Maybe it has something to do with luck and confidence of our strikers, just like Rafa said before the match.
I wish Garcia could play  more games for us. Remember last season? he played on the right but he has the license to roam which  he got us lots of goals plus The Big Ears. And tonight, he bagged the winner.

I think we are all being a bit harsh on Nando.  None of his chances have really been sitters and he at least getting in the right positions.

I actually think the Fowler/Mrientes combination is by far our best starting option - I can see a partnership taking shape there which none of our other combinations seemed to show.

If you ignore form and put yourself at the start of the season, if you'd been told our strike team was Fowler and Morientes with Crouch and Cisse as subs for either of them I think most people would have been pretty excited at the possiblities.

I think we need to forget the chances that have gone before and appreciate just how Fowler as a variable changes the equation for us up front.

Im surprised no one has brought it up yet, But could you really see Ping Pong missing the chances Mori had today ?

We don't need our strikers to play like midfielders and keep laying the ball off... Just put it in the back of the bloody net FFS
