Cisse is already a done deal.Viduka would be a handy player to have at a decent price.With Baros returning to full training in December our attention in the new year is to strengthen the heart of the defence.Didi coming back should help and it will also free up Gerrard to use his more attacking skills.

Anelka if we could get him but City would want a fair few million more than they paid for him and we would be laughing stocks for not keeping him in the first place

Viduka and Beattie are good players but perhaps not the top quality we should be looking for.

Overmars is in the past and should stay there

I can't see Houllier signing Hasselbaink, I'm not sure he's the kind of player we want, good goalscorer that he is

Rivaldo anyone? Just to bring that up again. Is he past his prime (and therefore be an "old-style" Chelsea fat bucks/end of career signing) or just not getting a go these days, talent wasted. Its tempting to think of him and Stevie Gerrard (freed up by Didi's return), running in and sticking balls to Owen and Baros/Cisse/Sinama??? But I agree the defence needs a good look at and top top quality centrebacks are few - really struggle to think of one worth signing. Anyone decent coming through the youths?
