Without doubt the best left-back in the World today in my opinion. Would be the only England player who would be an absolute certainty to get in a World eleven and as such is worth the money. People who say "it's not worth it for a left-back" are way off the mark, Cole would completely change the whole nature of the way we play, he would make a massive difference.
That said, IMHO he won't sign for us.

Ashley Cole better than Zambrotta of Juventus and Del Horno?

Absolutely without any question whatsoever. The best left-back in the World by a comfortable margin in my view. Interestingly, he could be better in a different side, Henri's penchant for taking up the left-wing slot curtails his forward play at times. At the World cup in Germany, I would be very surprised if Cole doesn't feature in the after-tournament World eleven. He is an absolutely fantastic full-back in my opinion.

Don't agree, Zambrotta in my opinion is much more of a balanced fullback than Cole. He is the best LB in England but in my opinion he's not the best in the world.

I think people are getting a little carried away with Cole here. I mean he is top class without doubt but to say he is the best in the world by a long margin is over the top. Either way he won't sign for Liverpool and I wouldn't a player with his ego in our team anyway. Rafa won't like that side of him either.

Mick its probably Henry's left wing play that brings the best out of him as he has someone out wide who holds up the ball while he bursts forward.

I also think you're overating him as good as he is. He's not in the same class Roberto Carlos was a few years ago.

Cole came of age last summer in Portugal and while I would consider him to be a quality player in the top bracket, Evra of Monaco and Zambrotta of Juventus are also equally terrific players.

Cole is a quality full back but he's not the best in the world. He's superb coming forward but he's not that great at defending actually. There are better balanced full backs playing in Italy and Spain at the moment.

As usual he gets hyped up and overrated coz he's english. Then his transfer value gets pumped up 10 million coz chelsea are interested. A quality left back can't influence a game as much as a quality striker, centre mid, or centre half can. Thats a fact. So quoting prices of 20 and 30 mil for cole in the papers is rubbish. He's not worth that.

Exactly,I would rather have Liverpool get a Division 2 player who is willing to play properly than Cole.
