American teenage prodigy Freddy Adu has said he wants to play for Chelsea after Jose Mourinho's side beat DC United 2-1 on their pre-season tour of America.

Adu, who turned 16 last month, faced Chelsea in the second half in Washington.

He is widely tipped to become the finest player ever to emerge from America and after the match revealed his ambition to one day move to Stamford Bridge.

"I'm not going to lie about it, they're my favourite club team in the world and maybe one day I can end up there," he said.

"Playing in the Premiership is a goal for me and I think I can do it. I just need to keep working hard and keep my head on straight."

Asked if he had met Jose Mourinho, he said: "I spoke to him before the game. I was just talking to him, I was just having fun and he was congratulating me on the goal I scored last week."

Another future transfer saga with ridiculous amounts of money being thrown I reckon. Do you think he'd even heard of Chelsea before last year?

Every time Chelsea are mentioned to players they all seem to be there boyhood team and its there "dream move".

I aint even heard of him!Is he like the new Tiger Woods only he likes a bigger ball? or the new Williams type of tennis player only he prefers football cos basically its better! was he born n bred on a new NASA football farm cos theyre sh_te at getting to space?Can he come to England without his shrink man? basically its fcuck all to do with the Pool fc so who cares! If he does go 2 Chelski fair play 2 him but hes a silly cu_t! Cos by the time hes eligable to play they'll have signed 14 new teams! And Liverpool will have a 6th star!!

I dont care where Adu goes, he is just an overated player that gives somethign for the Americans to boast about.. true that he is only 16 and he has a lot of talent, but i doubt if he can move on to become a real soccer star

Adu is quality. i would love him to come to liverpool.
if chelsea get him it'll probally ruin his career knowing them!
