Arsenalshorts are getting unconfirmed reports that the deal to bring Theo Walcott to Arsenal is now off.

The deal has been scuppered as Walcott is now too old to play football and has just announced his retirement. This comes as a massive shock to Arsenal fans everywhere who have been watching the saga unfold for over 23 f*cking long years.

Since the negotiations began which started around the beginning, the price has changed a record 872 times, and there's still talk of loaning the ageing star back to Southampton if a deal for the player can still be agreed, however this looks unlikely as the player now smells of :censored: and the only saga going on in his life is the name of his holiday company.

It's also been confirmed that Walcott has been at Arsenal's training ground having a medical for a record 23 years, and still hasn't passed.

Attention may now turn to Harry Potter lookalike Tomas Rosicky who's agent has pretending we are interested in signing him.

it's way too much for an unproven 16 year old and Rafa won't be paying that.  Arsenal can have him because, for that money, we could probably buy Owen in the summer.

But even Arsenal arnt paying 12M in one go. Its only an initial payment of around 5-7 Mil then the rest depending or appearences and goals ect.......Even Arsene Wenger isnt that stupid to spen 12M in one go all on a kid. Thats why there are clauses in the contract for the rest of the money depedning on criteria being filled. And it could be 2 or 3 years by that time before we would have to pay them the other 6 Mil. Are you saying that our club cannot afford an initial payment of 5Mil and another 7 Mil in a few years time. Weve still got loads of money from the CL left and not to mention the 20Mil bonus money from adidas this year just for players. I really do respect Rafa as a manager but hes just 2 shrewed sometimes and doesnt know a deal when he sees one. If were saying we cant afford him now then we will never eb able to afford hime becasue after 1 or 2 years hes gonna instantly be £20Mil prce tag at the least.

I like him to sign for us, but come on 12mil is way to much for a unproven 16yr old and like 7_Kewell said "for that money, we could probably buy Owen in the summer"

What did i just say you muppet. Its may not be 12mIl if he flops. Which is why the deal is being broken down into an initial payment and then the rest based of performance. If he was a year or 2 older then the downpayment would be much more closer to 10Mil. All you soft headed fools on this site can moan all you want about 12mMIL being too much but the fact is that unless we start showing our stuff in the transfer market then we will never truley close the gap on the likes of Man U and Arsenal with player like Rooney and Walcott. If Rafa was seriuous about us closing the gap on those teams then hed better tart buying some talanted players. Fair play for getting Agger and Kromkamp but thats not enough. Its a shame to say that we can never compete in the market with the big guns.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger says he expects to know within the next 24 hours if Theo Walcott will agree to become a Gunner.

Liverpool are hoping that the 16-year-old sensation will "sit tight" and turn Arsenal down - which is what they hoped Michael Owen would do when Newcastle went knocking on Real Madrid's door last summer.

It's a difficult situation for Walcott and his family though. He wants to play for Liverpool but the Reds are reluctant to get involved in a bidding war.

The Walcott camp has previously pledged not to shaft Southampton, the club that nurtured him, and that relationship is a massive factor during this saga.

Millions and millions of pounds is at stake so the whole affair could go either way at anytime. The pressure is certainly on the player and his family as things begin to reach a boiling point.

Speaking this afternoon, Wenger said: "We are very heavily in the race but nothing is done and, as long as nothing is signed, you cannot talk about it.

"However, we are hoping to get a decision in the next 24 hours."

From SSN

Martin Jol has revealed Tottenham are set to miss out on Theo Walcott and Wayne Bridge.

Walcott is poised to seal his proposed move from Southampton to Arsenal while Chelsea defender Bridge has emerged as a loan target for Fulham.

Jol was interested in both Englishmen and, although the door has not been fully closed on Bridge, it seems likely that Spurs will have to look elsewhere for new blood this month.

"People know what our policy is," said Jol. "We would like to have the best talents in England and he [Walcott] is probably the best in his age group.

"It is disappointing but we have Aaron Lennon and he is just as good."

Bridge is determined to ensure first team football ahead of the World Cup finals in Germany this summer.

"It's more about Wayne Bridge than us," continued Jol. "He wants to play and we never guarantee players they will play.

"That is the only thing I can say about it.

"I rate him as a player, he is a very good player and we only have one left back.

"If somebody else can guarantee he will play, it's up to him.

I fail to see the problem for Wallcott.....if he wants to play at Liverpool, all he has to do is turn down Arsenal and Southampton will sort a deal with us....simple.
