Postby ivor_the_injun » Sun Jan 01, 2006 2:15 pm

As we go into the new year, are any of the youngsters on our books on the verge of making a name for themselves at the club?

David Raven
Jack Hobbs
Godwin Antwi
Ramon Calliste
James Smith
Paul Willis
Danny O'Donnell
Miquel Roque
David Mannix
Antonio Barragan
Danny Guthrie
Besian Idrizaj

...or indeed anyone else I've missed?

i've heard good things about Hobbs,  Barragan, and Calliste.  Expect to see a couple of them in our FA cup match against Luton.

I hope not, I want to win the FA cup this year.

I'm thinking of going to the next youth cup game at anfield to check up on these guys.

I think we should let these youngsters to get involve in FA CUP and League CUP. Just to a look in Man :censored: and Assenal youngster, they are doing well.

And if these youngsters get to play, the senior will get to play and wait for other important matches.

What you've just said makes no :censored: sense at all so I think you should stick to your 7 words posts in the future and by the way we aint in the League cup no more.

Paul Anderson, the new left winger that we signed from Hull, has been been playing well for us and has already scored a couple of goals in the reserves.

Anyone seen Hobbs in action since he signed? I know he's still young, but it would be great to bring an English CB through the ranks.

Defensive wise the only players i see making an impact at all this season is Barragan or Hobs with Antwi close behind. Roque is still very very young so i will give him tell next year but the biggest one of the kids has to be Beslan Idrizaj. He scored 2 cracking thumpers in their last FA cup youth match. He is a very skillful attacking player that i hope will feature some part against Luton.
My new blog for my upcoming holiday.

I agree on the fact that they would get 1st team experience and that key players can be rested but It's embarresing to be knocked out of these competitions by the likes of burnley and palace.

The league cup and the FA cup both are sentimental to every team in the country and it dissapoints me that we put out youngsters and get knocked out in like the third round in a competition we could (when playing our 1st team) go all the way and win it.

From all the youngsters we have it seems that Godwin Antwi, Miquel Roque and Antonio Barragan are the ones that are making the biggest strides, all have impressed in the reserves this year and it would nice to see them involved in the FA Cup match against Luton.

Jack Hobbs is spending the season in central midfield in order to improve his ability on the ball, and he hasn’t really been mentioned as someone who had done anything impressive in the reserves, but I guess this is expected if he isn’t playing in his real position.

Paul Anderson had impressed in the reserves since he has been here, but it’s only been a few games.

I've seen Ramon Calliste play a few times and I don’t think he'll make it. He is quick and tricky but lack composure in front of goal and is too greedy.

I don’t know what happened to Raven, he was “one to watch” a year or twp ago, and put in a really good performance against Tottenham in the league cup last year. He has been converted from a centre back to a right back, but had spent most of the reserve season at left back. He looked nervy against Palace this season, his chance may have passed.

Hammill is going to be superb mate, out of all the kids hes the lad who i think can make a big impact at Liverpool, he is great on the ball and beats a player with ease, still only young but i think he is the most promising along with Barragan, he will make the grade at the reds as well idf he keeps progressing.

I think next season you will hear more about these kids, a lot of them are new to each other and a lot of local lads are playing with foreign lads and they are learning well from each other this year and im sure next year when they have had a season to settle you will see a couple of these making a breakthrough.

Also anyone who has watched the reserves already this season will ave seen some of the excellent football they are capabkle of.....and Calliste is at the heart of a lot of it, he isnt great, reminds me a bit of Baros, but with a young head on his shoulders and if hes eager to learn then the lad, whom i reckon is a rough diamond at the moment, could well make big strides as well.

Another lad to look out for, Callum Woods, Center Half who could have a big future ahead of him.

Spot on garymac, and i really agree with u about Callum woods who we should also watch out for!

It would be really helpful for foreign and local lads to learn from each other, because in the future we would be really strong
