What??? JAJAJAJA!!!! I agree it wasn't our best first half....i asure you that is not our whole potential.....BUT......we had 2 or 3 chances at goal....as they also did........in 2 half it was totally different...ball control....great passing....a great goal....and 3 or 4 chances to make the difference bigger....

I really hope players think the same way you do.....also i thnik despicted Liverpool have really great players...and plays in a much mre competitive league.....this are little advantages that play against you.....this mentality....alaos the little knowledge about our team....but us we see premier every week also UCL....so....

DALE MONSTRUO!!!
PONGAN HUEVOS Q GANAMOS!!!

The players probably won't think like we do, they want to win this as it will give them more confidence through out the season. You'd be surprised how many tapes Benitez can dig out on any team. We didn't know much about TNS, and many other little European clubs in the CL qualifiers but we got enough info to beat them.

Hi American guy! I'm from Brazil and supporter of São Paulo (also in World Club Championship). It's also for us a great honnor to join in this championship which we have already been champions twice, in 1992 and 1993.

You'll find messages of disdain about this championship, but it's understanding since the British guys don't really know football around the world. So, that's natural and most part of them will soon get involved in this championship. Just out of curiosity, South Americans have won the Intercontinental Cup 13 times while Europeans have won 12 times...so this superiority of European sides does not really exist.

And also, this competition is the unique that can "save the season" for Liverpool. So, the aim of Liverpool's players must be win it.

Good luck and congrats for the victory today!

PS: Great idea to put photos of the fans. I'll select some and post here too.

if you believe that you are either incredibley stupid or are in denial. If european clubs had taken this half as seriously as the south american clubs then the history of the competition in terms of its winners, would be much different. Also, the fact that in recent times south american clubs have sold all their best players to european teams will make a diffence this time round imo, i think that when you previously won the competiton you kept a lot of the stars within your own clubs rather then sold them on which seems to happen all the time now.

Its seen by most european clubs as a waste of time as it just gets in the way of more serious matters. In fact, i feel the only reason the competition even exists is so FIFA can exploit the european clubs to gain financial revenue, why do you think its in Japan for gods sake!

An example of how unseriously european clubs take this competition came last year when the G-14 (a grouping of the most powerful soccer clubs in europe) voted against the proposal of staging this very competition, basically claiming that it was a waste of time and unimportant. So the competion is basically seen as a joke by many european clubs. Take my word for it, whenever i have heard people talk of this competion recently in the british press or on television etc it has been in the context that its a complete waste of time. For example "liverpool now have to deal with the incovinience of going to tokyo for the Fifa world club championship and its come at a bad time with them now performing well in the league. They will hope the distraction of this competition won't disrupt the more important matter of the premiership".

Dont get me wrong i hope we play well and win the competion but if i had a choice of us performing well in the league over christams when we arrive back from Japan having lost the tournament or winning the tournamnet but then performing badly in the league over christams i'll give you one guess which one i'd chhose. This is something that i dont think we have in common with any of the other participating clubs.

I know what you mean. I also think that if it hadn't any European side in this competition, it would be a meaningless cup as well, due to the VISIBLE inferiority of football from Asia, Africa and Oceania. However, I can assure you that south american teams are as good as european teams. And also, if you didn't have the money, Europe would be nothing compared to South America in terms of football.

And for me it sounds indredibly stupid travel to Japan in the middle of the league to "lose" the game or not make much effort. Since Liverpool is already in Japan, the only way possible is to try to win the championship or it would had been a total waste of time. Do you agree with me?

And I also remember the Milan's coach in 1993: "We lost for the best team in the World". It was a great match and you can check the gols in this same topic. Don't forget that spanish, intalian and portuguese teams consider this championship far more important than the bristish teams.

I don't know which team will win this championship, but I'm sure that São Paulo and Liverpool could make a memorable game and I'm expecting for that.

Don't get me wrong, but as my mate from Brazil said, this disdain sounds like fear.

What would be the European Clubs without the south american players???  The english players are disgusting! liverpool is only winning now because of morientes, luis garcia, cisse... England has only 1 thing to be proud.... you created soccer. We added soccer touch of perfection. The English team will be beaten by Equador in the World Cup !

Look, nobody is saying that South American teams are shit. What we're saying is that we[fans] don't really care much about this cup. The Premiership is our bread and butter and there's a lot left to be played in, therefore it's important that our players stay in good form. This tournament could help us or break us, but the trip is far too long. That will exhaust the players more than the games itself. I don't know why FIFA made the tournament in Japan, when it's far away for most clubs in the competition.

The facts speak for themselves. David Beckham was sold to RM for £25M. His numbered shirt came out in Asia before it did in Madrd !!!!! And the entire £25M was recouped within 3 weeks on just his shirt sales. It was the same when Utd were winning eveything. Teh Asians were going mad. Just face it. If you want to make money you need to market your idea in a place where the demand for different clubs (ie: clubs who are winning ) differs at each time allowing differnt clubs a shared success.

In short:

Glory hunters

I'll take it that you've never been to Asia or understand it's culture, so I'll ignore your ignorance and take it that you just talk out of your @SS :bump

A lot of Asians (I'm trying not to make a blanket statement here) tend to follow individuals rather than teams. David Beckham has appeared in a lot of advertising in Asia, hence his popularity.

I think it´s difficult for a british or for a european recognize the superiority of the south american football.

We are just 10 countries and we have 9 world cups while Europe is composed by 52 countries and have 8.

About Intercontinental Cup in 44 editions we got 23 titles while the europeans... 21.

In all statistics we are better. We have the two greatest players in history, Pele and Maradona...

...this disdain it´s just fear to me.

:rasp

i never once doubted the fact that South America has/had some very good international sides. My point was addressing the current ablity of your countries clubs. I wouldnt be suprised at all if your club has some rising star of the future that i have never heard of but i still genuinely believe that when brazilian or argentinian players come to play in europe they improve to a level that they wouldnt acheive by staying in their own country. This is because the standard of european leagues is of a higher level so they naturally improve. I doubt Ronaldinho would be the player he is today had he not moved to psg and then barca. If you look at the brazilian or argentinian prefered starting line ups, most of the 11 come from european clubs, this has been the case for some time now and to me it shows that your best players play in european leagues. I dont think this is a coicidence and it was makes me believe that liverpool are better then sauo paulo, because we succeed in a harder league with the best players from around the world.

Frankly, the move towards Europe by the best S. American players has far more to do with economics than football.
Floyd stepped left and threw the hook that caught Hatton flush under the chin. Finally, the British champ had arrived in that mythical place of which his fans speak: Hatton Wonderland.

i reckon we will beat the costa ricans comfortably, by at least 3 goals, then go onto a tight match with Sao Paolo, which we will win by a nailbiting single goal difference

south american league :-

- pathetic
- bribery
- rioting fan
- bad pitch
- old stadiums
- not competitive
- choatic
- liberdatoras cup? 2 legs final?

south american player ply their trade around the world - vietnam, fiji, sri lanka, india, arab saudi, malaysia, china, bhutan, nepal, mali, alaska?, everest coz they no they are going no where if they playing in their homeland.

They will get better life outside their country and they sing praise for their adoptive country where they play coz they are professional. They don undermine or look down their team mate or team ( maybe indian, malaysia, chinese, hong kong ) like their true fan back home.

We gonna be a world champion and nobody can stop us...sao paolo either and let hear what mourinho will say next...maybe he will say that world championship is not official coz the best team not around ( chelshite)

yes that is true, but because the best players move to europe, not just from south america but from all over the world, this makes the european leagues the strongest in the world. Agree?

Im not trying to suggest they all move because they wish to play harder football although that may also be a popular reason, all im saying is that regardless of the reason why south american players come to play in europe it still makes our league's stronger, the brazilian first 11 are obviously the best players in brazil and the reason they play in europe is because they are good enough to.

We are the Champions of Europe, who would you say our best South American player is?

From what i have heard it sounds like Sao Paulo are a side who would be similar to Real Betis or Villareal. would that be a fair description?
