442 gerrard on right until jan. - Crouch needs a partner!

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I said it before this formation is not working, crouch is a target man and has good skill with his ariel ability but he needs a forward to link up with. He scored goals last season with a forward in a 442.
So we have to revert to a 442 as he is not getting any support from wide players they are not close to him, stevie will be better off out wide on right until january that is, he can play there he is quality has a good engine and will not affect us in midfield in the centre that is, i know thats his best position in the centre but for the good of the team to revert to a 442 and play an extra forward with crouch right mid is whats needed.
Pongolle, garcia or moro should play upfront with crouch as goals are needed. Cisse forget it 10 min to go 3- 1 down need i say more, Rafa doesn't rate him and the gaffa knows the players best he spends days with these players so cisse days are numbered iff we didn't know already.
Alonso and sissoko in the middle with rise on the left and gerrard on the right would give us more attacking threats,we need garcia or pongolle playing off crouch imagine owen baros or defoe off crouch's flicks or headers there would be goals but with this 451 its not happening. we will be still strong down both flanks attacking and defending with warnock and finnin.
This is a much better balance to the team and suits everyone, until January anyway then we can bring simao or joaquin in.We should do it, hopefully it may happen as i feel  it would give us better balance and scoring options and then you would see why crouch was brought in.But at present there is nobody apart  from stevie linking with him fast enough.

I agree! Have you ever seen so many long balls in all your life?
I love Rafa but not his formation

Everyone is talking about Crouch and these "flick-ons".
About what percentage of flick-ons come to anything? 10%?

Surely this cant be our "strategy". OK it's an option but let's not get obsessed with it.
Iam really regretting we ever bought that beanpole.

Surely people can see that the current 4-5-1 formation just doesnt cut it in the premiership, sure its good in europe where the style is more technical and at a slower pace, but rafa has to mix it up in the prem.

I think rafa is brill but he's too stuck in trying to make us the 'new valencia' instead of the 'new liverpool.'

Total agree with welsh w. 4-4-2 with a decent partner for crouch.  :blues:
The rafalution begins.. Happy Days!!

He has been one of the best players of our young season, there is nothing wrong with the way that he is playing. He needs more support, i bet that when he gets it you will say that you loved him all along

Yes, he needs assistance up front. I've heard of a fella by the name of Cisse that can reputably fill the void. Perhaps Rafa should try him.
Seriously though, I also think Cisse's days at Anfield are numbered. I rate him highly, just a pity the manager doesnt. He will be traded as soon as a suitable price/trade can be arranged. Unfortunate, but in Rafa we trust. Shrewd entrepeneurialism is always an admirable quality and Benitez is arguably royalty in this facet of the game. Unlike his Chelski counterpart who wouldnt know what thrift and good economic sense was even if fell from the sky and struck him fair on his retarded looking head.

zenden on left your having a laugh, i said put stevie on right because he will be more of a threat than garcia, he can play anywhere and do a real good job. Our midfield esp in centre is strong sissoko and alonso will hold there own, rise is the best we have to play on the left until we hopefuly get this gonzalez.
Zenden needs to catch the same bus as cisse in jan, he will just not cut it. But 442 til january it has to be, with stevie playing right mid, we will have more balance, create better chances and the main point have a chance to score goals with two up front, goals makes wins and we need them.

442 definitely...instead of playing cisse on the right, better put gerrard in that position. He can cross, break the defence, and he can score! Hell..he can play in any position!!! put him there and put back cisse in his natural position. By the way...where's kewell...? still 'not fit' to play? ayeee....

you mentioned joaquin, which i think its impossible unless moore decided to hand rafa a huge amount of transfer cash on Jan

Simao, how good is he anyway?

We've got to play the system that makes our players play freely and comfortably.  4-5-1 is fine as long as the it suits the players.  It's unfashionable, but 3-5-2 suits our players best at the moment.  My suggestion is that Rafa will try to buy players to suit 4-5-1 better in January.  In the meantime 3-5-2 would suit the players we've got...

           Crouch (Nando)  Cisse (FSP)

Riise                                           Finnan

      Alonso (Zenden) Gerrard (Garcia)

            Sissoko (Hamann)

  Traore (Warnock)  Carra  Hyppia (Josemi)

                        Pepe

I can't see anyone here playing out of position, can you?
