Gerrard's partner on the pitch that is - What midfielder do you want

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Supposingly Tomas Rosicky claims to want to come to Anfield. He is a young creative midfielder which is what we need to partner Gerrard but who would be your choice to be the chosen one?

Deco is quality and NOT just on tonight's performance because he wasn't at his best . Last Season he practically won the UEFA cup on his own and Euro 2004 will be a stage for him to show his skills and maybe next season at CHELSEA cos thats where Mourunho is Going.............. be told LOL:D

yeh he is class and could be a key part in takin portugal a long way at Euro 2004.

Unfortunately i think Mourinho may be heading for Chelsea, as he has said he had a agreement and doesn't break his word, and Chelsea have been linked with him for a while.

this makes for interesting reading, perhaps he'll come after all?
taken from lfc.tv.

Mourinho led Porto to the title, Portuguese Cup and UEFA Cup last season and having already retained the title this season, today he's preparing for the biggest game of his life against Monaco in the Champions League final.

However, Mourinho is already thinking of his future beyond tonight's match. "My reputation is very important to me," insists the Porto boss. "I want people to remember me as one of the all-time great managers. I want to leave my mark in football history and be remembered like Bill Shankly and Bob Paisley.

"I loved the way Liverpool played in the Seventies and Eighties. I loved Kenny Dalglish, Graeme Souness, Phil Thompson, Ray Clemence and Ian Rush - now I want the same success.

I would have liked Damien Duff in the team ideally.

Mid ; Malbranque, Stevie, Hamman, Duff
Free role CF ; Kewell
Striker; Owen or Cisse
Football is a simple game, all you have to do is pass the ball to a player in a red shirt.

Malbranque is good, although I hate to say this, I think Hamman is past his best and Gerrard needs a quicker central midfield partner yet who can tackle well (I don't have a specific player in mind but should be in the Butt mould but NOT him). Duff will be a very useful addition indeed, as will be Joe Cole.

Why should he be in the "Butt mould"??

We need creativety. Not another defensive midfielder.

We need an attacking play making central midfielder. Gerrard always does the ball winning, hence the Reason Hamann goes missing in games, we need someone who can compliment Gerrard, a defensive midfielder wouldn't do that.

Liverpool would make a good move with Giuly signing(monaco). Not better than Deco but surely less expensive.
Frank Lampard is not in the way out of Chelski ?
A cheap and good signing would be Gallardo.
