Cisse - no team player

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Whenever a long ball isn't passed perfectly at Cisse he stops running, looks back at the player who passed and shrugs his shoulders.

If he loses the ball he gets frustrated and doesn't bother running back to fight for the ball.

He helps the team a little and has no determination whatsoever. His strongest game is his pace but he doesn't seem to run off the ball enough. He'd rather pick the ball up and lose it.

I don't know if he is a good player or not. In France he has been fanatastic scoring about 30 goals a season but in the Premiership he has not convinced anyone about his ability. He needs to stop being lazy and improve his work rate - as with Morientes.

Right now I would be glad to see Cisse leave in the January transfer window, along with Morientes. Crouch and Pongolle deserve their chance in the starting line-up and I believe it was the best choice against Man U.

Personally I think this is the best formation and set-up with current players available.

..............................Reina...........................

Finnan........Carragher..........Hyypia.......Riise...

...........................Alonso.............................

......Gerrard............Sissoko..........Garcia.........

.......................Pongolle...............................

...................................Crouch.....................

Garcia can try to put some crosses in with his left, Gerrard and Sissoko can burst forward. Crouch can hold up the ball as well as score some goals. Pongelle can have the role Garcia normally plays. Alonso can provide those key passes and Finnan and Riise can act as attacking full backs to provide some width when needed.

wonderful....lets get rid of all of our top strikers...so we can have a striker contingent of crouch, moro & pongolle.  :suspect:

1st of all...cisse is at his best when he is at the end of crosses...and knock down. He does not play well when his back faces the goal.....like anelka.....like owen.

Yes that's correct. Sell our "best strikers" in January and buy some good strikers for a change. Get Saha from Utd but I doubt that will ever happen...

Gudjohnsen may want to move in January with lack of first team chances...

I am telling you, this guy is not very good, he won't last very long.
How can a high-paid striker like him unable to dribble past an opponent?  All he does is kick the ball away and run to the direction of the ball, opposition defence can just double team him and he is gone.

with one barge. He is so weak on the ball. He can't even finish. And no skill, like you said - kick the ball past a defender and try to get on to the ball. I don't even think he is that fast - he looks like one of those lightweight players that look fast but are actually a little slower. McManaman used to look average pace but he was actually quite fast. I think Cisse should take a trip back to France.

Sorry to dissapoint you, but I think one of poorest areas of Cisse's game is his heading. It's not that much about his technical ability to turn the ball's direction of flight with his head, but its his determination in getting there in the first place.

Today in his brief appearance, he refrained from slugging it out with a manc defender when the ball was crossed into the box. The ball was of good height, a 50-50 chance between him and the defender I would say. But he chose to give up easily, stood like a log of wood in the box, preferring to turn straight at the referee and complain about the physical challenge the manc defender gave him. Man, was he thinking of a penalty? Otherwise why not challenge for the ball and moan to the referee? Who in the world would give a penalty for that kind of challenge? He really should have made a fight for the ball instead.

Its not the first instance anyway. I remember against Boro (or was it Sunderland) he wasted 2 good chances when he didn't connect with the ball with his head while he really should have.

Saha and Gudjohnsen would be a better striker partnership than anything we could currently put together at the moment, and would probarbly get at least close to 35+ goals in a good team.

On the issue of Cisse, he just isnt that good, and if we can sell him for a reasoble price in January and find a suitable replacement then we should go for it.

But we dont need any extra strikers, if someone leaves then someone comes in, that all.

Who are u talking about ? cisse ? moro ? crouch ? garcia ? pongolle ?

Because all of them are highly paid strikers (maybe not pongolle) who can't dribble past their opponents. So u are telling we should sell them all ?

Then why did we sell baros (who can dribble past opponents)...?

Give me a break.

Err...Baros is at Villa you :censored:. If there was a chance of resigning him in the January transfer window then I would suggest him. And dumbass those were only two examples.

AND AGAIN, I believe Gudjohnsen at least is a better player than Cisse.
