Y'know what I mean though St Mick? They sign Owen and suddenly this fella comes on all sage-like "I like the look of Ping-pong. Don't worry lads, it'll all be Ok" pat pat pat.
I know the lad means well but we don't really need his sympathy thanks. I betcha Cisse scores more goals in the Champions League than Owen this season anyhow. Infact my notion is that for the forseeable, Owen has scored his last goal in that competition.
All that said, I wish Newcastle all the best but I just don't need to be patronised by these lads. A bit of Nar-nar nar-naar-nah straight after he signed is understandable and part of the banterious nature of the game we love (obviously I just made that word up) but save me the knowing smile until you've actually won a couple of games, never mind a couple of trophies.

This must be the nicest forum in the World! If it's not Chelsea forever with his up to the minute progress reports on Fat Franks waistline, it's this Newcastle lad who now feels qualified to comment on all things Red. This assumption is presumeably based on the fact that Michael Owen chose to sign for Newcastle rather than sit on the bench for Madrid until Christmas. I actually think Newcastle played it very clever visa-vis Owen, forcing the issue and relying on the fact it was World Cup year and Madrids shameless greed to finally get their man.
Unfortuunately however I think Newcastle paid too much for Owen, both in terms of fee and wages. This will be proven true or otherwise as the season progresses. Strangely though, I am not moved to go onto Barcode.com or whatever it's called and bemoan the lack of opportunity which is afforded Shola Ameobi. Similarly, whether or they sold Jenas too cheap (FWIW they did and he is the snip of the whole transfer window in my view) is something I may have thoughts on but the idea of discussing it with a group of Geordies, anywhere other than in a bar as a result of a chance meeting is just daft.
I guess what I am saying is, you guys are welcome on here but haven't you got anything better to do? You support a team who haven't scored a goal yet in four games and have just shelled out 16 million quid for a striker. Go and have a lie down and dream of all the goals he will score, you don't need to be on here discussing Florent Sinema Pongolle.

Fantastic post Mick.. so to the point.

How can any of us have time to go on to other forums.. what between juggling a career, family and supporting Liverpool  FC :D do I care what Souey "tea cups" dilemmas are ? Nope..

I lurve this post .. Big Mick post of the month.  :)

The Wooden spoon ya mean!! One great signing dont make a team . The fans up there were calling for Souness' head before they signed Owen! Now u'd think they signed Jesus Christ!
Desperation breeds bad decisions,it was a bad decision to pay £17 m  for Owen!!
He played well for us because this is where his heart is!
He played well for Madrid as he was desperate to cement a starting place!
What has he got to prove at Newcastle??Nothing!
That welcoming he got at St James Pk,hes already a hero and he hasnt even kicked a ball......it was pathetic and embaressing to say the least!
Oh and sven has alreaady said if hes playing regular football he'll go to Germany!!
So its at ur leisure michael Owen!!

Good news, Morientes injury is not as bad as first thought. He will only miss ten days rather than a couple of months.

MORIENTES INJURY WORRY

Your Sure people will be delighted??

and you say Im negative

Muppet.

I reckon you are referring to nandos lack of goals??

If our midfielders give him the ball where he can do the damage the guy will bang the goals.
Why not balme stevie g for that, or Alonso.

You have no knowledge of football, and that post just proves it.

try netball i suggest.

That is really good news.

I would of been gutted for him had he been out for a couple of months, it would of set him back so much.
We all know he hasnt done it yet, but we can all see that he has the ability so lets look forward to him coming back and hopefully proving alot of people wrong.

It is a valid point, but not the be all and end all.
I will support Nando and hope he comes good, but its not just about him being supplied the ammunition as to why he has struggled to make an impact.
He needs to be a bit stronger and hold the ball up alot better.
He also needs to take up better positions, i am not doubting his work rate, he works hard, but in the wrong areas.
Rafa is playing him as a lone striker alot of the time, but he comes too deep and there is nothing in the box for Alonso or Gerrard to cross to.

funny how little mikey never got blamed for not finishing his chances against N.Ireland.

Poeple  know that a lack of supply was the reason.

Morientes gets blamed though when Liverpool dont score.

???

Strange lot, some of these.

Owen had England's best chance of the game, but he missed his first touch and went for an overhead kick would you pay 16 million quid for that and for the moment i think it is good for morientes to be injured because it will give Cisse, Crouch and Pongolle chances.

Owen is good, but Newcastle are c.rap, so he will probably be looking for a new club next summer when he is associated with a club that is outside the top 6, maybe we can sign him then. Morientes will pick it up after his knock, some time off for people to forget about him, and a fresh start. I am looking forward to Liverpool in a month or so, things are kind of scrappy right now, after that, we are good to go.

It’s a shame he is injured, at least it is only a short-term injury, plus Crouch and Pongolle have both recently returned from injury.

Morientes wasn’t playing that well anyway, though the service he has had so far has been of a very low standard.

It’s a chance for one of the other strikers to stake a claim, come on Crouch and Cisse, earn yourselves a first team spot.

I’m really looking for one of the strikers to grab the bull by the horns and start banging in the goals and earn themselves some time in the team.
