Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Positives for me:

*Nando's deft little touches
*Garcia's industry (always look on the bright side...)
*Nice to see Hamann start tonight, he as much as anyone deserves to play tonight after the CL final

Surprises:

*I was one who considered that Alonso would be a more significant figure than Stevie G - clearly I was wrong - not a comment about Alonso, who is playing well.
*the lack of width out right - I expected more out of Finnan
*Josemi

Other stuff:

*Was it Riise who played them onside for the goal?
*Pepe got it wrong too - overcommitted himself and gave the striker room to get around him.
*Where is the Riise of last year?  He seems much more tentative now to me.  Last year he seemed to thrive on the responsibility and trust shown in him, this year he seems to not be handling the competition for places at all well.
*I'm liking what I'm seeing on the left alot more than on the right in terms of our attack - is Bolo really playing that badly?

Oh well, roll on the 2nd half...

It's the same old cr@p again and again. Commentators are talking about us having most of the ball etc, can noone else see that we are being allowed the ball as much as we want? We don't look like causing them any trouble at all.

As I have said before, we pass the ball back and forth across the pitch while the defence lines up waiting to head the long ago telegraphed cross that inevitably comes when we run out of across the pitch ideas. Alternatively we all end up running towards the middle of the pitch into a crowd of Liverpool and opposition players and losing it.

The problem we have at this club and more often than not, football across the top level board are players who are afraid to take a chance...to do something other than play it safe, which leaves us with this vanilla flavoured tedium that we are experiencing at the moment.

Owen might help us scrape a few goals out of the half chances that fall our way, but we really need a midfield that really puts a defence under pressure. I think they can do it, they're just afraid to.

As for Sami....mate, I am afraid the writing is on the wall for you my son. You've been the backbone of this side for years now, but you're slowly turning into a liability.

Let's hope the second half sees some good action.

Here's hoping that Flo-Po can make the difference.

I'm stuck at work right now (US Eastern coast) at reading the text commentary on uefa.com, and all I keep seeing is every three minutes the following message:

"(insert L'pool player here) misses the target."

Are we really getting that many good chances, or are we just throwing the ball indiscriminately at the net?

Is there anyone on this squad that doesn't take a dump in their kit when they have the ball in the box? ?????

Better question: do you think a loss here could be the final blow to Cisse's chances of staying and the ultimate indicator that it's time to bring back Michael Owen?

I watched ist 20 mins of Game, solid Mid Field, good defense, Garcia played well. Mori touched the ball once, then they showed him walking around he looked very tired. Commentator had this to say 'he has touched the ball once, but seems he has already played few games.' Not a good point of view on main striker.

The final touch is not there, sad but at this rate the CSKA can just pack up thier box with 11 and run the time out. Too bad SG is out, bad luck for LFC.

Stop getting on players backs, their is no need to single out players, yeah Garcia isn't really playing well but the team as a whole is looking poor!!

We look so short of ideas and once again we have loads of posession but are strugling to break teams down :(

We need to start playing a 4-4-2 again  :nod
