There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

just wasnt to be. we will beat a lot of teams this season with displays like that, need to take our chance though. 1 up front just doesnt work for us we dont have the speed from midfield to back up a lone striker although stevie tried his best 2nd half. nando flicked a few balls on but no one was up next to him, why play that formation if no one is going to take a chance. over all average display but its only the first game very unlucky but things can pnly get better  :;):

To be fair it's a bloody good result in the end cos Boro's ground has not alway's been kind to us.

Boro have a good squad, let's not forget that. Yakubu,Hasseilbank,Viduka,Mendieta,Downing all dangerous players on their day, and we kept them quiet.

this i definitely agree with. This is the first time he has shown his potential and I really was encouraged by him

I thought our second half was a lot better.  Sissoko played well after a kind of jittery start.  I liked our passing and possession play, especially against one of the so called stronger middle table teams.  When they got down to 10 men we really took it to them and I thought that was really encouraging cause often you see 10 men teams press harder, but we controlled the play and dominated the last part of the 2nd half.
To those that call this result a disaster, you have to remember that was game 1 of a long schedule, we were playing away, and we were playing a decent team that we have had very little success away to in last 5 years.  I think we've only scored 1 goal or something at 5 away games to middlesbrough?  I'm fairly happy with the result as it looks like sissoko is going to be good and warnock played well which if he can continue would be great for some depth in defence.

I believe that Sissoko will be instrumental for us away from home as he will break up play and get the ball back for us. He was easily one of our best players today and we where unlucky not to come away with the 3 points.

I thought we played very well and kept good posession, we defended very solidly and dominated the match in general, but we where so frustrating up front. Playing one up front just doesn't work in game's like this, especially with a player like Morientes who hasn't got much pace to cope on his own. I also hate seeing Djibril being thrown into the right midfield position, why put him there when he has proved clinical in front of goal the last four or five game's running?

Reina give me a scare too, but to be fair to him, he was blocked by a Boro player on his way out to catch the cross - to be unfair, he shouldn't have still came after being held back. Other than that mistake, he was solid and came out with two huge punches to clear the ball.

Over all a very good and solid performance, the negative's in this game are minor.

Hope we don't really play 4-5-1 until we get a proper right winger..... Kinda irritating to see cisse on the right flank. He should be playing CENTRE forward.

An average start to the premierleague campaign. I guess rafa thought boro will come out with all guns blazing (thus with the somewhat defensive line-up).

We could have beaten boro if cisse & moro had started together........ ah well, a point is better than none.

Thats what you get if you dont score after all the chances you get.

I was half expecting boro to nick one at the end.

2 points dropped already.
