Mourinho raps Liverpool's Gerrard: Wrong to snub Chelsea
tribalfootball.com - August 1, 2005

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has told Steven Gerrard he made a big mistake choosing Liverpool over the Blues.

He said: "Gerrard is a great player and we want an English core very much. But I think it is Gerrard's loss more than Chelsea's.

"Why? Because Chelsea have a good team with the conditions to improve and a club which will be one of the best in the world in a short period of time.

"So when he decides not to join this club, I think it will be a loss for him, for his career.

"He can say 'I was European champion at Liverpool'.

"But I can say to him in the next 10 years we will compare trophies at Chelsea and at Liverpool. And he will lose."

its the rantings of a man frustrated in the transfer market.. to be honest most players of class don't wanna join them it will always be Real, the two Milan Clubs, Barca, Man u ( toan extent) and Us... those who are joining Chelsea are not really established world class stars.. and of course the money is an incentive.. when you are looking to make it.. £60m for Savchenko I heard somewhere.. and he ain't come.. so let him rant and rave .. Benitez is class, respected and a winner.. he outshone Mourihnio's achievemnts in the first season.. that's why he's sulking.. the special one.. ain't the Thee Special One.. there's another guy in town .... and oooooh is he class..
THE BRENDAN REVOLUTION IS UPON US !

KING KENNY.. Always LEGEND !

RAFA.. MADE THE PEOPLE HAPPY !

From LFC.TV

Rafael Benitez today claimed Jose Mourinho's latest rant over Steven Gerrard's decision to stay with the Reds is a sign that the Chelsea manager is worried about Liverpool's title credentials this season.
Mourinho reckons Gerrard will come to regret his decision to stay at Anfield after performing an amazing u-turn in the summer to stick with Liverpool.

Mourinho said: "When he decides not to join this club, I think it will be a loss for him, for his career.

"He can say 'I was European champion at Liverpool' and I have to say that is correct. But I can say to him in the next 10 years we will compare trophies at Chelsea and trophies at Liverpool. And he will lose."

Benitez, however, hit back today and insisted Gerrard will be playing in a Liverpool team more than capable of winning plenty of honours over the coming seasons.

He said: "I like it when Jose talks about us because it means we are doing well.

"He must be worried about us. I think we will do very well this season. Steven Gerrard will win many trophies with us - hopefully starting this season."

Who gives a monkeys what Jose says? This is his plan, y'know. He gets everyone talking about other players, so no-one talks about and upsets his. He can say what he likes, I no longer care about the little pillock. :)

Surely the 'great one' has been enjoying one too many of Fergie's invitations to a quiet glass of red at the local MUFC-branded pubs (soon to be released as the latest merchandise by Mr Glazer)!

I cannot believe that he is convinced that the mighty blue Bolshevik revolution (Mk 2) will be winning more than Liverpool in the next decade. While, as a Liverpool fan, I can concede that Chelski were superb last season, I personally am not convinced that they will sweep the board this season.

They have a good core of players, a great coach and a blank check for a bankroll, yes. A tick in every box yet as we all know in football, money does not always buy success. I feel that the Blues are in need of a good thrashing or two (which may come this season) and it will be the catalyst for a sell-off of immense proportions.

Chelski can't sustain a squad with their current talent and keep them happy. ManYoo have tried this before (just ask Ole Gunner) and unless they are winning the league, it turns to sh!te. Just ask Parker, Morris, Kezman, Crespo, Babayaro and Bridge. All have had limited parts in the Chelski team and all have been frustrated with the style of management. Mourinho cannot manage his squad for another season the way he did last year and I feel that a few bad results will lead to a mass culling of talent.

It can't be long before that smile and swagger turns to a washed-out whimper of desperation, and I hope it comes courtesy of a 5-0 drubbing by Liverpool!

I don't think that Liverpool are necessarily the better side, but I feel that we are better grounded and have a team resolve that will serve them us well in the next couple of seasons. Rafa the Gaffa has transformed a bunch of misfit players into a solid unit at Liverpool and I feel he has bought well to the needs of the team.

Liverpool have signed Gerrard this summer to a big contract and so now has a big responsibility to his team and the fans. However, if he went to Chelski, he would find himself drifting through the mist of fame and success that Mourinho artificially creates. There is no real success to be had at Chelsea and what better place to prove 'the great one' wrong than by winning a few bits and pieces this season while Chelski flounder. This should be a good season for the Reds and with Gerrard at the helm, the Reds could march on this season!

Chelski and their bosses should take a good hard look at themselves, their arrogance will be their undoing and as the old adage goes, "the bigger they are, the harder they fall". I don't think there will be anyone to protect Mourinho when he does fall and I'm sure that the new blue army of fans will as quickly dissipate as if his very words were teargas to the nose and eyes!

Get your hands off it Mourinho! You have the league, we have Europe, and we didn't have to buy it!

Take a number mate. the way moaningho has been spewing his rubbish and alienating the football world in general has just elevated them to the most hated club around. i am no fan of the gooners but i will be cheering them on in the Charity Shield.
Bill Shankly after beating Everton in the '71 cup semi : "Sickness would not have kept me away from this one. If I'd been dead, I would have had them bring the casket to the ground, prop it up in the stands and cut a hole in the lid."

To be honest, these latest comments from Maureen once again proves that whilst both he and Rafa are exceptional managers, when it comes down to it, they couldn't be more different in terms of class and personality.

Chelsea waltzed home with the most devastating points total ever recorded in the Premiership last season. It is the league that dominates the papers from the time it starts until long after it's over. It is no surprise that they keep bleating on about it now.

Rafa, shys away from the media spotlight. He is more interested in football. If you want the attention, it will find you. That is Mourinho. Loves the attention, loves to be the one we all love to hate, and loves to appear on the back page of newspapers up and down the country. It's all part of the game as far as he's concerned.

Moreover, there is still room for doubt where Rafa is concerned. Even as a red, and even after the sheer delights of last season, I know there is still plenty to be done. No-one is under any illusions as to quite how much ground we need to make up. Yes, Rafa inspired us to a great victory in the CL final. But it was against the odds. Why? Because in all honesty, we're still not that good.

Some might consider this reason for more praise. Rafa took a beleaguered Houllier side and made them Champions of Europe. But in the eyes of the media, he got lucky. He now needs to take the next step of proving to all that we can compete over the course of a season, to really grab the attention of the doubters. We need to see significant improvement in our league form before people once again begin to take this club seriously.

No-one mentions Liverpool when they talk of title contenders these days. That is not harsh, it's simply realistic. We are WAY off the pace. Until we address our league form and really start to make inroads into the vast points gap of the last couple of seasons, the media will continue their relative ignorance where Benitez is concerned.

Lets face it, if you spend the vast majority of your season looking completely inadequate and then achieve something amazing, people will think it's lucky. If you spend the whole season looking like champions and then fall at the final hurdle, you're unlucky. That's just the way it is. So lets just become champions and prove everyone wrong, eh?

I disagree comletely, what certainty? There is nothing certain about Chelsea's success.

I think WE will be more successful than them over the next 10 years.

I have to say I "used" to like Mourinho before today, but his recent comments showed a great amount of DISRESPECT. I am actually shocked that he has said these things....

It's ok to be arrogant and confident when you can back it up with success like Mourinho, but he is being out of order to Gerrard, Benítez and Livepool FC.

Disgarceful and condescending comments.

Mourinho = IDIOT
